Ingegnere- Looks very nice. The 30" rear wheels make it look really mean, but I understand how such artist's conceptions work.

    Ahahahaah 30's wheels.

If I were Glinckenhaus-rich, I'll order that exact same car as bespoke project from Pininfarina.

Thanks ingegnere. Cool sketch. What is interesting is that most of the speculation sketches show a similar hood treatment, like more of a vent than a scoop. This would hopefully help with the hoods always wanting to fly off at high speeds. Also I am curious on how you read the lines of the padded camo car.

Another thing that comes to mind that nobody is really talking about is the new platform of the FF and 599 successor, why is the 599 platform not having the same 10yr duration like the other models have typically had? Is this the new standard platform life for Ferrari? Will the 458 continue for ten year duration or be shorter like the 599?

crinoid- The 599 chassis was based on a shortened version of the 612 chassis, which first popped out in 2003, believe it or not (1st 612 owners manual is 1994/03). Aluminum chassis and body, return to shim adjustment for suspension alignment, 114.3 mm bolt pattern vs 108 mm, and many others.

Still 456 was 1992-2003. The Maranello was 1996-2006. The lifespan was reduced on the 612 and 599. Why?

I think that's a general marketing trend... In the internet era, Design becomes obsolete faster. I have noticed it for other car manufacturers.

Crinoid- Close, 456 93-03, Maranello 96-05, 612/599 03-11. Ferrari has gone to an eight year cycle on its cars, announced in its 5 year plan to Fiat in April 2010. Basic model four years, M version 4 years, special models at various intervals. With four models, that gives them a new model every year, plus various Scud/Enzo specials. All spelled out here, which has been posted numerous times.

I to like that sketch very much. Its sporty but not over the top.

Also I'm really wondering whats up. Ferrari usually releases or leaks a few photos out a month before a car to tease and generate buzz. Nothing yet................hhhhmmmmm

Yes, I've seen this. I am saying the 599 doesn't fit into this current 8 year plan or the previous 10 year plan. It will have been available from 2006 through 2012. That is only 6 years for that car, not 8 or 10. The 599 has slipped between these two standards as I believe the new car will be based off the FF chassis architecture rather than an evolution of the 599's.

I am looking at the World Premiere Menu dated February 22 2011 when clients and subcontractors had dinner in the 12 cyl production floor following the presentation by Luca etc. It was followed by a Geneva launch. Invitations are out for the 599 successor. Let's hope the snow will have gone from Maranello

Haha - I agree about the 30" wheels. I was rushing to finish the sketch and in trying to properly "round-off" the tire, it just got bigger.

In any case, the features will transfer well to "normal scale" though certainly not as dramatic. Will post a sketch when I get it done.

Hope to see you there !
What color should the 620 be ?
I want my spec for the car to pay hommage to the 50/60's. My FF is in Grigio FF, too understated perhaps but suits the big guy well. Does anyone have photos of a 599 in Celeste Met, I have seen a 612 in Classic Driver. Going out on a limb with this one, also Avorio is interesting. As you can judge resale is not a top priority.
Any unusual suggestions from the historic palette welcomed.

    I'm boring.
It's supposed to be my daily driver in Chicago so going conservative (trying to "blend in").
Either Nero D or Canna Di Fucile.

Cariad- Saw the photos of your FF. Looks great. Cannot wait to see her in person. It snowed this morning, by the way. About 2", but all gone down here now.

Agreed and if anything if I did the FF again would be my choice. Grigio FF is a tad light.

definitely. How many people are going Nero (daytona)? Cana di fucile is a fantastic colour rarely ordered. Combine with Rosso or bordeaux interior...Go for it!
