Unveil? i have seen a few of them already in NY and other places? How can you unveil and old car that has been around for a while? Maybe they are finally getting their first car months after everyone else?

Oh, it is a PR thing and not an unveiling. Thanks for the clarification.

This was a spectacular event at the dealership last night. As always the team at FoNE put on an amazing get together. The food, atmosphere and camaraderie helped contribute to the successful outcome of the event. (Yes, as a professional fat kid, I put food first on my list.)

As you walked into the showroom, they had both the 599 and the new Maser QP automatic under form-fitting covers facing the reception desk. To the right of the auto QP was a silver Sport GT and to the left of the 599 was a stunning black 1967 275GTB/4.

I got there a little early and managed to catch some decent photos with my cell phone before the floor was over run with enthusiasts. While waiting for the event to start I spent some time speaking with the owner of the 599 and got his impressions of the car. Needless to say he is very impressed with the latest offering from Maranello and was very generous to let just about everyone sit in the car.

During my stint behind the wheel ( 2 minutes worth) He let me turn the key and push the start button. The 12 cylinders fired to life with enthusiasm. This was after he already warmed the car for the "official unveiling". I was very impressed with the seating position and the layout of the dash and steering wheel.

There were smiles all around as people entered and exited the car. A few friends to the owner were allowed to rev the hell out the big 12. The first time I got to hear the car sing I couldn't hlep but think of how incredibly brutal the exhaust note is. I don't think anyone will need to put a tubi or Capristo on their 599. Ferrari definitely got this exhaust right!

The service department was open, with many different cars in various states of adjustment and repair. They still have the black on tan 1990 TR and it was parked in the center of the right hand bays for all to see. Kenny, my girlfriend Kaydee and myself were the only people in the service dept for a short while. We spent some time looking over the cars and helped ourselves to a seat in the black TR.

(For the record, FoNE is trying very hard to change the sterotype that the dealerships service department is some vile, evil agent of satan. They have a great facility and are not charging exorbatent prices. If you own an F-car you should seriously consider them for you next tune, service or other mechanical related need.)

After returning to the showroom, those on hand were treated to magical occasion. The 275 was fired up! The 275 is what got me hooked on Ferraris many years ago and to hear one again is a very special treat. I felt as though I had been smudged in a bizarre religious experience with its exhaust. As great as the 599 sounds, there is NO comparison to that of a 6 carb V-12 from the 60's. FORZA IL CAVALLINO RAMPANTE'

If you have not seen this car you should head to the dealership to check it out. This car is AMAZING! The paint, the engine bay, the interior are all in great shape. The best part is that the owner drives the car! He puts more than 2k miles a year on it.

It was great to see many of the friends I have made from Fchat at the event. Kenny, Dennis, Tim, Rick, as always it was great to see you again, Joe and George it was nice to meet you.

I'd like to say thanks to Dennis, Natalia, Jesse and Mark from FoNE for putting on a great event. These people are very welcoming and have become friends as I have become a regular face at the dealership.

I will post pics a bit later on. I hope that you all have a great weekend.

    Cheers!

    Scotty
