I understand the nostalgia with aesthetics re: this debate. But the 599 has a lot in common with the 250 GTO (looks wise). I think that holds a lot of water even if the 575 is more stout and appeals to the masses. Now, the technology difference is how should we say: No Contesto! So I was reading the other day that the California has the same 0-60 time interval as the F430. With 100 hp less and 300 lbs. more than the F430 and it's all because the F1 is so quick.. That speaks volumes... Gotta say, I used to be against new technology and modern Ferrari's. Now I am a fan!
If its 550 v 599 its a tougher choice. But if its your typical 575 which is F1 vs typical 599 then I would go 599. 550 has more charm/ 599 has more competence. 550 more fun for shorter periods of time. 599 better for longer distances. Ideally its best to have both.
