I saw one yesterday. It was dark blue (maybe Blu Pozzi) and it looked FANTASTIC (imo). Very classy. Does anyone have pics of 599s with chicken-mesh grilles? Maybe a red 599 with one? I only found the picture bellow of a 612 with one. Do you guys reckon it would look good on a red (Rosso Corsa) 599? Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think that the 599 would look good with a mesh grill. In combination with carbon sport seats, shields, challenge wheels & rosso corsa it would look awesome.
I think so...but the wheels have to be painted black (with red lip), the exhaust black and the grille itself too.
Here is the "Cornes 30th Anniversary Edition" 612 (Cornes is the Japanese Ferrari importer). As you can see she also a chromed chicken-mesh grille. Are there any pics of a 599 with a similar grille? I know that some HGTE 599s have one...but in black. Here is a nice high-res pic--> http://foto.caranddriver.autonews.fr/ferrari/599-hgte/ferrari-599-hgte_01/314046-1-esl-ES/ferrari-599-hgte_01_header1600x800.jpg Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks pretty cool, but I opted for the classic grill on my HGTE 599. I also opted for Challenge Wheels and NO stitching on the seats saying "Handling GTE"......I like simple, clean and classic but with all the modern technology that can be stuffed into the beast. APe
I didn't think that the chicken-mesh finish was "modern" but rather classic (even if not common for Ferraris). P.S. I share your sentiments regarding the HGTE stitching and rim choice
I loathe chrome. Mesh is dark, so horse is focal point, but really not consistent with history/design of marque. Original drawings of 599 have black eggcrate grille Nero Annodizzato. Extracampionario. Paint is color to sample, sitting next to Silverstone 430. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was looking at that thread full of pics of your 599. You clearly put a lot of thought in its configuration. I think it looks great. It's amazing how that color changes with light. Is it a one-off?
Thank you. It was a lot of fun/work doing it. Color is one-off. Really does change a ton with lighting. More than I expected, I was pleased.
Well...calm down with the chicken-mesh grille discrimination Bentleys use it, Bugattis use it and now Ferrari offers it with the HGTE package for the 599. In any case, I think the standard grille looks very good so I'm not convinced that changing it would be a good idea either.
And now every ricer uses it You can pretend it's a smart car The black one you posted above looks good cause it looks invisible Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Red has a habit of making certain cosmetic details appear "busy" or out of place long term. I believe that the Atelier offers only one mesh option that is suited more to the 612 as opposed to a harder, sportier design such as the 599. A wider spacing in the mesh might suit a red 599 better, being closer to the sportier element as opposed to the luxury one.
