Nice pics, Etienne. I like the detail shots.
And the bugs through your teeth Why d'ya think they invented closed face helmets. I still have some NART decals from Francois from way back--Hmmmm
Interesting to see them go back to the Enzo style buttons rather than using the manetino switch... Why would that be?
Because the Enzo is awesome. Etienne, great pictures, thank you. Any pictures of the serial number...?
Some more information on the 599XX program. 1.1m gets you the car and 7 track days complete with full compliment of Ferrari mechanics. Weekend track time is shared with FXX and F1 programs. Subsequent years are approximately 150K.
Can anyone explain what is going on with the brakes here? I have read this: "The F1-derived "doughnuts" partly covering the wheels and brake discs improve both aerodynamics and brake cooling." Are these carbon fiber plates stationary or rotating? They look like they go into the caliper, or are they just flush with its edge?
They are brake ducts that channel the most cooling flow to the brakes with least disruption of air flow and creation of drag. http://www.automanifesto.com/2008/03/f1-wheel-cover.html
Ducts or exhausts? As I understand it they clean up the air coming off the brakes benefiting the flow over the rest of the car. BTW they first appeared on a Ferrari F1 in 1991 on the 641/2.
Mmmmmmmm, donuts.I think they only work with centerlocks though. Some moron will bring back CleanShields and some decals for the ricer crowd-shades of the 70's. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Did you get a full season of events in without overhaul/freshening? Bottom end seems strong. The 599 FXX really isn't much less $ than an FXX was. A bit pointless unless someone develops a racecar out of it. Lot of potential, more than the old Prodrive 550's or the 575GTC
Since we´re in 2009 and there is no official Ferrari GT1 car in sight, I can imagine how they feel about that idea. I still believe the 550 GTS / 575 GTC deserve a worthy predecessor and this 599XX looks like it means business! I believe the last Le Mans-victory in GT´s for the factory was in 1965 with s/n 6885 (the car ran in Ecurie Francorchamps colors, but was effectively a works entry).

from the look of it they are carbon fiber rotors? can that be? I know they arnt that good for torsional rigidity, also im curious to how the heat and wear would act upon it. From what I know Carbon Fiber is the last material you would want to make a brake rotor out of.
What you are seeing is the brake duct...but behind it the brake materials are: "The development of increasingly high-performance materials has also benefited the carbon-ceramic material braking system. The brake pads are now made from carbon-fibre which means that the calipers are smaller whilst guaranteeing the same efficiency. The new racing carbon ceramic braking system also delivers shorter braking distances and is generally more efficient due to the weight saving." For a track only car this is not a bad thing, it's a good thing.
Yes, thank you, and 166526 for the HGTE. But I was hoping someone had pictures of the full VINs. Is the VIN for the 599 XX like an FXX VIN (e.g., ZFFHX62X000) or do they have street-legal VINs (e.g., ZFFFD60B000, ZFFFC60A780, etc.). Just wondering... I guess, if the 599 XX is a track program, it's got a racecar VIN. Anyone get a full shot of the HGTE VIN...?
Just noticed in Nicholas's and Ettiene's shots there at the rear. The "Rossa"-esque flange behind the front wheel is echoed behind the rear one as well. Very cool. GT
From the look if it though the caliper is over the CF so it looks like it would clamp onto the sed device. Please correct me if im wrong
