Other than the fact the body panels don't fit well, no. What's wrong with it?

White bumpers, white rear panel, white spoiler, black bonnet grill, black front grill, white front indicators, mph speedo, prancing horse shields on front wings, extra switch on driver's door. Sorry Kraig, we must have been typing at the same time - this feels like an exam!

Aidan you have a VERY good eye, you got them all. The only thing you missed were the black sun visors. Look close at the header trim, its black also. What do you think thats all about?

Sure seems like a lot of odd things for an all original car doesn't it? Or am I just being critical?

Dave, you are right, there is something fishy about this car. The owner was obviously obsessed with the white and black look, so why have blue leather? It seems to me that the leather was replaced, presumably because it was worn excessively. So, perhaps the mileage is not genuine? Also, as GatorFL pointed out, the panel fit is not good.

    Caveat emptor.

Yep, we already know this car isn't being represented properly. "Original, near perfect, paint with 3 or 4 tiny chips on the front."
Uh, no, sorry but those bumpers weren't white from the factory, not counting the other obvious paint work (grille, etc).

100% positive thats not how the speedo looked when it left the factory :)
Isn't the one on this car stickered?

I don't know Aidan. You might be right, that leather is in pretty nice shape. If it is original it is the nicest leather I've seen on a 400i in a long time.

Yeah the panel fit on the front end is HORRIBLE. What gives?

How often do you see a 400i that still has a working ignition unit bolted under the hood?
You guys notice how nice the trunk carpet is?
That is the correct tool kit bag, but not the correct tools. And why are there 2 owners manuals from 2 different years?
Thermostat has been replaced. Aren't the factory cavis wires for a series 2 car supposed to be white? Pretty sure they are.

Interesting thing on these cars is some of the importers really tried to get them to meet federal standards. It seems that whoever imported this car was one of those companies. (My car, and yours also Aidan, obviously was imported by people who thought "payola" money was better than actually trying to meet the law :D )
Look on the center console; see the seatbelt warning light? I can't find the sticker that says "unleaded fuel only" but I'll bet its there. I can't make out the sticker to the lower right of the speedo. This car probably has working cats and even meets emissions without any monkey business. We all know how rare that is!

    Dave

I think the seller is not very knowledgable about 400s - hence the stuff about the white bumpers.

Not an unmolested example, but might be possible to make it decent with a few dollars.

Not always. Aidan's car for example has a speedo that reads in kilometers.
Sometimes they were stickered, sometimes replaced with a new speedo, sometimes left as new, and sometimes replaced after they'd been driven quite a bit. This is why you ALWAYS take the mileage on a 400i as questionable at best.

I have only seen them twice in all the Series II cars for sale, are they still available? Mine look pretty new so can only assume that they were changed out (every 25k mi., right?).

People will go to great lengths - Dave drove from CT to TX in reverse just to keep the mileage down.

Mine has neither light nor sticker, can I assume it doesn't have cats? How can you tell by looking at the boxes underneath?

No you shouldn't assume that. Mine has no seatbelt warning, no unleaded fuel, and no us marker lights, yet it did have cats at one time.

If yours has cats they will be after the headers and before the 3 mufflers.
