Many thanks! Agree the Z06 is an amazing car for the money in many ways. Have seen them at the track and lemme tell you, the thing is staggeringly good and nearly 1/3rd the price of the Italian alternative.

Of course modded for real long-term racing it blows away Ferraris time and time again.

Best "bang for your buck", yeah the ZO6 takes it......only problem is that all you get is a short-term bang before the Vette turns to trash. The 997TT and 599GTB will stand the test of time much better.

Interesting, i chatted with various Vette guys and their cost to maintain is a lot less... evn hard use track cars. Buy a used Z06 and pocket HUGE change versus the others. Long-term, i bet you when the 599 is superceded the amount of $$$ you lose on it from buying new and driving it equals a used Z06 and you'll STILL have change in your pocket.

I'd have to challenge your views here. Corvettes have a pretty good track record for durability. Porsche has a solid reputation as well, but I think that the Vette would endure more miles than either of the other cars you mentioned.

    8 SNAKE,

What i find interesting is that in endurance Euro races and even LeMans Ferrari seems to avoid trying to compete with the vette. The vette is in higher/faster league. Just finished watching a race in SpeedTV and the vette was a mere 41 seconds behind the pair of Enzos, er, um, Maserati MC12 after a THREE HOUR race. Do not want to mention how embarrassingly very far behind the Ferrari 430GTs were.

    Steven,

That is an interesting observation that I really hadn't given much thought to. The Corvette has come a long way over the last 10 years and made a quantum leap from the C5 Z06 to the C6 Z06.

The C6 ZO6 was built to embarass Supercars in all performance caegories.

Is it any wonder on Ferrarichat that the car would stir some emotions?

It may stir emotions in some, but I don't think that the majority of owners here bought their F cars because of their performance numbers. I've never viewed a Ferrari as a culmination of statistics. Ferrari automobiles have a way of speaking to the soul that a Corvette (although a great car) can not come close to. I see them both as great cars, but serving very different purposes. Others may view it differently, but to each their own.

I have a 96 z51 Vette, 106K, had a few minor problems the first three years, but warranty covered those. Since then very little as far as maintenance. Less than the Tahoe with similar mileage. A lot of my buddies have Corvette track cars, very strong cars. They will go tens of thousands of miles with hard track abuse happily.

Agreed, there is also the status thing that some feel compelled to be a part of without ever really knowing how to really drive their car to its capabilities. The good news is that evolution has a way of weeding out things.
