6 Drivers Cited On Speed Racing Charges

His name is Zahir and this group usually exhibits great care and caution. He actually putts together some incredible runs that probably are one of a kind including dvd of the run at the end. Some times as many as 35 to 40 exotics on the road going for scenic tours through the mountains, it is a sight to see.

Overtaking and passing a patrol car in pursuit of your companions is exhibiting great caution? Also driving in a manner that causes fellow drivers to call in and report your actions?

We are all here because we love and enjoy driving fast cars but a large group of exotic cars running at excessive speeds and doing rude driving will cause all of the rest of us problems for months if not years to come.

I've had my fair share of tickets and even been on the WSP big wigs "nail his ass" list at one time many years ago but I keep my "spirited" driving to clear and empty or close to empty roads that can handle the speeds.

 

I hope he was the slow one in the group. I drive that fast to work every morning in my Audi.

 

Seriously. If you aren't going 90 on the interstate around here even in a mini-van or SUV you better pull over to the slow lane.

 

My bad on the spelling of his name...but I don't really call passing on blind curves against double yellows, cutting off travelers, and hitting speeds that would make most people have seizures "great care and caution"...I'm all for spirited driving, but this was 3 days of it, and that's what I've PERSONALLY seen, no hearsay, with my own eyes. But, on a side note, he's a nice guy. Unfortunately, the thread isn't about nice guys.

 

My vote is that we (FCA, and LCA members) send e-mails to the local media to FULLY explain that we aren't to blame. Also, would be great to shed light on the concerns of international drivers not being responsible for penalties they accrue here in the States most specifically in Oregon and Washington. Really bothers me that that local exotic owners get lumped in with these a-ho-le-s from up north that are driving like idiots and risking life and limb in our states!

Lambo gets a ticket, then 90 miles later gets another ticket. Ouch. I guess Oregon made its point! How many miles is it back to Canada?

 

They belong to the ZR auto group from Canada. Same guys who were in hot water over that top speed Enzo video on youtube.

 

100+ in Oregon = mandatory trip to the County Clink regardless of where you are from.

How was this avoided by the group?

 

Going 100 mph on public roads is just suicide. I have good friend that is in a wheelchair due to such BS ( He was the one driving that fast) Take it to the track guys.

(CNN) -- Stop, speed racers, stop.


The 2004 Lamborghini was pulled over later Thursday and cited for speeding near Multnomah Falls.
3 of 3 So said Oregon State Senior Trooper David Petersen after he was able to catch up with six exotic sports cars on a stretch of Highway 18 near Grand Ronde on Thursday, according to a news release.

Perhaps a more amazing feat was that he stopped all the cars simultaneously.

"They just were all good little soldiers and pulled right over," Oregon State Police spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings told CNN.

One of the drivers was later cited again on a different highway.

The drivers of the cars -- consisting of Ferraris, a Lamborghini and an Acura NSX -- told Petersen they were part of a group of 20 similar cars making an annual road trip, the news release said.

They were all cordial and cooperative, and were cited with speed racing, a class A traffic violation that can command a fine of $627, Hastings said.

After receiving reports Thursday morning that several sports cars were speeding and passing in no-pass zones west of Grand Ronde, Petersen set up east of the casino town, near McMinnville, and waited.

Five of the cars soon blew past him, running about 100 mph in a 55-mph zone, Hastings said. As Petersen pulled onto Highway 18 in pursuit, a sixth car passed him.

"I guess when you're going too fast, you're in a rock and a hard place," Hastings said.

Highway 18 runs from Dayton, Oregon, in the Willamette Valley to the Pacific coast. The stretch where the cars were cited is considered particularly dangerous and the Oregon Department of Transportation provides additional funding to enforce traffic laws there, Hastings said.

About two hours after the incident, another trooper pulled over the Lamborghini from the group in Multnomah Falls, about 90 miles east. The driver of the car, which bore the the license plate "BADBUL," was cited for driving 90 in a 65-mph zone, according to a news release
