Would that be the same care exhibited in this video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJF8-PS0ZsY

210 mph on a public road complete with an interview? Granted the video makes claims that they closed the road etc, I think this is the one that ended some of these guys in jail for a short stint? I have nothing against Zahir or his group, I think they're all pretty cool...just this sort of carelessness ruins events for all of us, especially when you PASS a cop trying to catch up to your group? Can't out run Motorolla!

Or here...note the orange Gallardo is the same one that got pulled over twice in Oregon and the police road block at the front of the pack? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoFmHbv4hYk

They were pretty much just asking to get pulled over when they passed the trooper at a high rate of speed. IS the F40 in the group an actual LM or is it just the wing?

So they are all tuned by ZR? That cop must have quite the ego now that he pulled over an F430, 599, F40, NSX, and Gallardo at the same time! :) I dont see a 6th car in any of the pics?

"They were all cordial and cooperative, and were cited with speed racing, a class A traffic violation that can command a fine of $627, Hastings said."

This is what I don't understand and was a sub-topic of a thread a while back. What defines racing? I still don't see how several cars driving together above the speed limit is racing?

The driver's must think tickets are all part of the fun and cost of admission. The cops that catch them turn around and radio ahead so that they'll get nailed repeatedly. I really don't see the point in this kind of exercise these days.

Kevin, first of all what the hell are you talking about???
blind curves, double lines, cutting off who, it sounds like you have first hand knowledge of this, were you there?
Hmmmmmmm let me think, NO YOU WERE NOT!
Our group does not pass on blind curves or double lines and we do not cut people off.
The cop has made sure it sounded like it was the fast and furious but it was not.
You should know from driving these cars that when you pass people and it is loud they think they are over 100mph.
People will phone in even if you pass normally and the police like to say that that they received lots of calls because it does not sounds good if it just one call.

think about it, it is the media, sensationalism sell news :)

And all of the sudden we are not nice guys, give me a break you have never went fast before hahahahahaha please!

Actually, I WAS there on the ROTB which is the event I am referencing...have lots of photos and video if you'd like to see. ROTB = Running of the Bulls from Tahoe. You're right though, I wasn't part of this group in the past week or so...nor did I claim to be. You should read all of the info before you jump on board...Like I said earlier, from my experience, and that's my personal experience, I don't share the same philosophy as you about what you define as "great care and caution".

Lastly, if you read my post entirely, I said Zahir and his friends are nice guys...but the thread isn't about "nice guys". Just my two cents.

That is the annual club outing - no racing involved...I went one year when there were about a dozen cars. The drill is all cars are near the limit and the trailing car passes the entire line getting over the century mark and falls back into lead when the new rear car passes the string in like manner. The whole line isn't at 100 but are near the speed limit but that doesn't sound bad enough for the press.

Incidentally, hwy #18 being quite near me, that stretch is designated as double fine area...I once couldn't find my registration which was in my glove box...it was very rainy night and cop wouldn't let me use his flashlight...so I got a ticket for no registration $150 times 2 = $300.

My brother-in-law (retired NYSP) laughed after I mentioned this. He said usually if you see 3-5 exotic/mussle type cars then you'll always have the potential of writing up a few of them. Something about group mentality that leads to breaking the law. So for me to avoid getting papered I don't participate on group cruises. You always need to watch your back .

If you Roy and Kevin are going to come out and give your opinion on this matter that is fine, everyone has the right to there own opinion. The thing that I don't like is when you start adding FALSE FACTS and try to make a bigger deal out of this then it is.

"The BADBUL guy had the Murcie Roadster that last year, on one of the "runs" in Arizona left the roadway at high speed and totaled the car" this is FALSE

"100 in the tunnel at Yosemite" FALSE, making noise in a tunnel does not = 100

"Overtaking and passing a patrol car in pursuit of your companions" "especially when you PASS a cop trying to catch up to your group" FALSE, part of the media hype

"police road block at the front of the pack" FALSE, this was a drive organised by Lambo of Van and the police pulled over the cars because there was a complaint 5 hours earlier about a single Lambo speeding

The police put together a media package that they HYPED up so they could get a better STORY! They sent it out to all the news stations and with each NEW article that comes out the truth gets streched farther and farther.
DO YOU BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ!!!!

Don't know where the yellow murcie was totalled...but I've seen the photos of it in the desert, doors up, on top of a cactus, bumpers shattered...so whether it was in Arizona or not, I don't know...just know it was in the desert and left the road at a very high rate of speed...as far as the SILVER Murcie that was wrecked in Canada...it was purchased from GPI and also wrecked IN CANADA with the dmv inspector in the passenger seat...not making any of that up, no reason to, and not really on point, but the fact remains the silver Murcie and the yellow murcie were both wrecked. The yellow murcie may have been put back together, again, I don't know, just know it was wrecked.

100 in the tunnel...I was there and FAR cry from "noise in the tunnel"...that's ok though, we all paid the price with the ranger escort at 15 mph through the rest of the park...again, I was there and no reason to make it up.

As for the police roadblock...I've been on a dozen runs with police escorts and never once have they had us on a freeway off ramp, with one car to the rear and 4 cars facing us with lights going blocking the road. Maybe they do it differently in Canada, but sure seems like an odd way to "stop a single Lambo".

I'm not saying that there aren't times when we all get a little crazy and I don't believe anyone is trying to really paint a negatice picture here...what everyone seems to be saying and I concur, is that these sort of things ruin upcoming events for the people that live in these areas...whether it happened or not, it made cnn and a ton of other media outlets and with a F-club event coming up IN OREGON next week, it rubbed a lot of the participants the wrong way.

There's been plenty of USA owners nailed for the same thing, one in fact was actually FORCED to sell his exotic as a result of his ticket and he wasn't even the one driving stupid. That is the difference...the Canadian's come down, get their tickets, maybe they pay them, maybe they don't, I do not know...residents here however get the tickets for other peoples actions and there is a penalty involved, and not just to that person, but to the entire community.

As a result of this event, you can rest assured that the upcoming event next week will have "heightened police patrols".

You may not like me voiceing my opinions or stating what I have seen/witnessed with my own eyes...but that's what makes forums interesting.

    Stop, speed racers, stop:

So said Oregon State Senior Trooper David Petersen after he was able to catch up with six exotic sports cars on a stretch of Highway 18 near Grand Ronde on Thursday, according to a news release.

Perhaps a more amazing feat was that he stopped all the cars simultaneously.

"They just were all good little soldiers and pulled right over," Oregon State Police spokesman Lt. Gregg Hastings told CNN.

One of the drivers was later cited again on a different highway.

The drivers of the cars -- consisting of Ferraris, a Lamborghini and an Acura NSX -- told Petersen they were part of a group of 20 similar cars making an annual road trip, the news release said.

They were all cordial and cooperative, and were cited with speed racing, a class A traffic violation that can command a fine of $627, Hastings said.

After receiving reports Thursday morning that several sports cars were speeding and passing in no-pass zones west of Grand Ronde, Petersen set up east of the casino town, near McMinnville, and waited.

Five of the cars soon blew past him, running about 100 mph in a 55-mph zone, Hastings said. As Petersen pulled onto Highway 18 in pursuit, a sixth car passed him.

"I guess when you're going too fast, you're in a rock and a hard place," Hastings said.

Highway 18 runs from Dayton, Oregon, in the Willamette Valley to the Pacific coast. The stretch where the cars were cited is considered particularly dangerous and the Oregon Department of Transportation provides additional funding to enforce traffic laws there, Hastings said.

About two hours after the incident, another trooper pulled over the Lamborghini from the group in Multnomah Falls, about 90 miles east. The driver of the car, which bore the the license plate "BADBUL," was cited for driving 90 in a 65-mph zone, according to a news release.

Yeah but they all pulled over no one did the dash and he still maxed the ticket out like a stupid ****.
He could have just given each of them a 10 over a speeding ticket the county still gets the money and he is still a good cop but he hammered them.

    Well, rules are rules.

When you're caught going 100mph in a posted 55 mph zone, you don't really have a leg to stand on.

Sure, like everyone else, I like to drive a bit fast sometimes. But when you're caught, you're caught.

Thankfully, the drivers were all "cordial and coöperative," so this won't create too much negative publicity about Ferrari drivers in general.

You do the crime, you pay the fine. That's all there is to it.
