Starting to look around for what is (for me) the holy grail. A 6 speed manual California I have been lead to believe that only 1 such car was sold into the UK but LHD would be OK as I could have the car in Dubai... Does anyone on this board own a manual Cali... have any information on numbers and location etc etc
There's an old master thread - I think there might be a dozen world-wide - try a search on manual in this section - maybe in title
I have seen one for sale in the UK about 2 years ago. Silver with a grey interior if I remember rightly. Maybe ask a UK dealer to track one down for you.
Holy grail? Are you implying that this type of car may be more valuable due to the rare spec.? Sound like Ferrari logic.
taz, only partially correct as far as i know. from the multiple threads on this subject here, and conversations with other ferrari people, i have gleaned that there were either 6,7,or 8 cali manuals. but they were made in 2010, whereas there seems to be about 50-60 599 gtb manuals, and the last one i know of is owned by an fchatter and the build date is june 2011.
Hello, I own a 6 speed manual California. I also understand only 1 was sold into the UK, and I was told 1 into Europe (mine - Switzerland in fact) and a couple into the United States. I have decided to sell mine because of a move off continent. If you are interested please let me know.
I've heard as low as 2 and as high as 10, but I don't know the real number. Either way, congrats on owning one.
Thanks for the post - makes sense to me. What I have understood is that there were 5 made in total, and this seems to be confirmed by https://www.artcurial.com/fr/lot-2010-ferrari-california-coupe-cabriolet-pininfarina-2877-118
Many thanks ! I purchased it from the dealership new. It has been a pleasure to own and drive it. And the uniqueness and manual gearbox is a permanent pleasure. Unfortunately it does not make sense to me to keep it in a garage for the next number of years while I am abroad for professional reasons, and would like to see someone enjoy it actively.
Thanks for this! Very interesting! Well done sir! I wish you as well as the future owner the very best and give a hearty congratulations ahead of time to both you and buyer. Cheers
hey arthur ! glad to see you finally came onto ferrarichat ! you were supposed to give me first look, remember ? let me know if i can help
I guess once again, I don't see the big deal, the manual gearbox would not be my choice for that car, in fact I think it would be a detriment. I have come to realize after all these years that as much as I enjoy (certain) cars in manual, others for various reasons are actually less enjoyable with a manual. I love the 6 speed gearbox in the 718 Cayman, but I don't like the 7 speed box in the current 911, I have no idea why they thought a 7 speed manual box was a smart idea, it was not. The Lotus Evora 400 is the perfect manual car, in the auto box, I cannot stand it. The 4C is not a car that should have a manual, it is a car you need two hands on the wheel and the transmission fits it perfectly. I would rather drive a Miata, or a S2000 or any of the other manual cars I mentioned here, because their manual boxes are better than a gated Ferrari. I realize the horsey thingy makes the car better in probably everyone else's mind but mine on this forum. I don't see things that way, I just see one car and another car, just cars.
I'm pretty sure there were two RHD cars. A red and a silver one - not entirely sure on the silver colour, but I've seen a red one. One has a black interior and the other a beige or sabbia I think. I believe the 3-4 LHD number is pretty close. There were most certainly more than one LHD car.
Not even sure one of the gated 599's can fetch that. It's worth what someone's willing to pay, but as it is based off the original Cali platform, that might subtract a bit. Not ripping on the Cali, just saying that it does not seem to carry the same general prestige as the V12 cars and the V8 VS cars. 1.75-2 x MSRP is probably not too far off. It's a grail for the few that wants it, but had it been a Ferrari grail for the majority, these cars would trade more often and at very high prices. I don't think it will reach that kind of status for a few decades.
