    Ferrari is to make a very limited-run model called 600 GTO, according to reports on the net. It is said to be based on the 599 GTB Fiorano, but with carbonfibre roof and bodypanels, and other measures to reduce weight by 285kg, lower suspension and a lower centre of gravity, revised aerodynamics for greater downforce, and modified styling. Reports are divided as yet as to whether further race-ready mods include the deletion of air conditioning and sound system, and the fitment of lighter-weight seats in place of the standard leather chairs; some sources say that the weight reduction has been achieved without losing any mod cons. A private owner bought 3 standard 599 GTB Fioranos and sent them to Ferrari for this Project. Basically same idea with Jim and his P4/5.

    Anyone have any info on this story. Here are the only pics of the project. Note the hood with more intakes.

    Those rumors are not so fresh at all. Just have called my dealer. He told that 600 GTO was rumored some time ago and there were talks around F-insiders about one customer ordered some unique car based on 599 GTB. But later there were no any sort of oficial information or confirmation about this car.

    My dealer told me that it can be some sort of early rumors about future unique limited edition 599. My dealer told me that now around F-insiders there many talks about Ferrari top secret plans about unique limited edition car to extend 599 model range. But thats all are only rumors. Best.

    Well I heard that a rich owner bought 3 599s, payed ferrari to turn them into lets say "Scuderia" Version of the 599. Better known now as the 600 GTO. Not much info exists now but all will be reveiled at this years Frankfurt Auto Show. I could be wrong bout all this info, comes from Fast Lane Daily: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlMLEjPa45Y

    This year's Frankfurt Auto Show is passed this September. And there were no any confirmation from the F-factory about this project. So neither me nor my dealer do not know what has happened with this project. Best.

    The Van den brink GTO looks beautiful and they've drafted in Edo Competition to modify the 599 engine to Ferrari FXX standards.

    I heard from a friend working with the gentleman on the very presumptuously named "600 GTO NART" that indeed a fresh influx of money and all the will in the world to spend it might not exactly be enough to garner approval and/or rights to make it/name it so.
    No matter.
    A mule has apparently been built. I've not see it. But I was sent a Christmas card with this solitary picture.
    To not get people all too excited lets let the most historic of naming conventions be gone with and leave this at 599X until something more becomes of it.

    Is this on a 599 Chassis? It almost looks to be on a 612 chassis.

    Hey Jim,

    This is the first mule and I am told it is on one of two 599 chassis currently on hand... the third is yet to be delivered.
    I have to say that the concavity of the front had me giving it a second look. I went to the garage to take a look at what was behind my bumper and there is no way that could be done without reworking the braces that hold the chunk of aluminum (not to mention that aforementioned chunk is curved a couple of degrees outward)...
    I'm taking a guess that it has something to do with reducing as much weight forward of the front axle as possible.

    Anyway, I should be hearing more from their camp as soon as shake down and the second chassis is complete.
    Apparently the world of Ferrari bureaucracy and all that is involved in making a car has been a far ruder awakening than could have ever been thought by this newly wealthy and newly-interested-in-cars gentleman.

    I've heard rumors of something of this likeness.....from what I heard it's supposed to be unveiled at Pebble this year.

    Again....only rumors. But from fairly good sources.

    Im not sure what I think about the Concave look in the grille area as compared with the edgy, vented hood... Looking forward to seeing more!

    Very interesting. I don't like the look on the pictures Maximillian posted, it looks as if the car got beaten up badly and decides whether it should now start to cry or not - not my taste.

    Your right, these shapes don´t do anything for the 599-look. I however would love to see an even more potent version of the 599. I bet it can look really agressive.
