This 612 is for sale on ebay. I had a flight booked to go see it and have it inspected until I noticed the gap around the bottom of the passenger side door. Please compare it to the driver's side door. In my opinion the large gap clearly shows repaired accident damage. What do you guys think?

No, it shows Ferrari panel gaps are crap!

You should see the gaps across an Enzo's front nose, and it continues on parts of the 458 Italia.

If you like that car (and it looks great to me) you should pursue it.

If they sell it staing "accident free' and you find you have been mislead they open themselves up for damages...

There's a nice 612 here at Vintage Motorcars too, although it is very dark silver metallic, carbon interior with Daytonas...maybe drop by over on Kempwood and see how the gaps look, on that example???

I will drop by Vintage. Thanks for the info. Gaps just look too big and uneven.

Id call them and get more detailed pics and go off those. These are inconclusive to me.

I've spoke with the dealer. I asked about the gap at the bottom of the passenger door, dealer just says to have a third party inspect the car. That's all good and well. I just don't want to waste time and money if the car has body work.

Maybe someone didn't fully close the door? The glass window doesn't appear to line up either so maybe it is just a non-fully closed door. A bit of a stretch, but that gap is pretty noticeable.

but only if you replace it with a CGT! :)

to the OP: I think the passenger's door isn't completely closed, that's why the gap looks wrong.

carfax is clean, and there are so few rossa corsa 612's that I'm sure a damaged one would be documented on Fchat. if it is damaged, it is more likely to be from a curb or someone improperly jacking the car than an accident.

door gaps can be adjusted, doesnt neccessary mean it had an accident.
that being said, the 612 has the smallest panel gaps among 599 and 430s, workmanship amd paint is also better than the fcars of the same period.

If your serious take it now and I will owner finance it - just make it a big deposit.

Be careful what you wish for as there could be a 612 at your door :)

I test drove this car today. The door was completely closed in the photos. I looked everywhere, could not see any signs of respray. In person the gap around the passenger door looks like the door should close another 3/32 of an inch, but it doesn't. Maybe, there could be some adjustment to the latching mechanism and post, but I don't see how it could be adjusted that much. The only thing I saw that was incorrect, was the interior leather panel and weather stripping inside the passenger door. The panel and weather stripping didn't fit together nicely, like it does on the driver'e side.

I think that speaks to some repair, maybe inside the door, on something.

I'd think there IS that much adjustment of the door by the time you massage hinges and door strike adjustments.

As my old friend used to say:

"This car was RIGHT when it left Maranello.."

Although tales from Phil Hill sometimes speak otherwise, on the race car carb adjustments and such....

Jerry- Ferrari of Houston has one of the best Ferrari bodyshops in the world. If you are serious about the car, you might drag it by there and see what they say.

Sorry for the bum steer on the door being open.

He is here, but he had to fly to see the car, so it is "not here"......Edit: Arlington Texas, and with an independent to boot, so it is wise to be wary.

Agreed on FoH facilities, they are top notch!!

I was looking at this car last week (not in person). When I initially asked about the door gap David assured me it was fine but the door was not closed all the way in the photo. I scheduled a PPI and told him as soon as he followed through with sending me a few photos of the door fully closed I would pay for the PPI and book a flight down if it went OK. When I pushed again for the photos the next day David said the door doesn't close all the way but that it should be easy to adjust. I sent him an email Friday morning (5/13) saying I was too concerned about the door gap to move forward. He shot me back a note that said I had moved too slowly and that someone had it inspected that day, adjusted the door gaps, and paid $143k for it. But it is still listed on Ebay and AAGAutos. Be very careful with this one.

Love the 612..go have a look yourself, and then have it inspected if you like what you see.

I think they are one of the best auto's Ferrari has produced since the 328.

Great driving car, love the silly thing!
