At clutch replacement time is it possible to retrofit the dual clutch from the 612 OTO into a 2005 - 2006 base 612?

That's a great question!!! I recall some comments about the computer being quite different,,,,,

I look forward to the answer from the assembled brain trust........ It certainly would be a value increase for the cars....

The 612 OTO still had a single clutch automated manual gear box (F1 Superfast in Ferrari parlance). The dual clutch automatic did not debut in a front engine V12 until the FF in 2012. The OTO introduced the more robust twin plate clutch that would eventually appear in the 599 GTB.

Whether or not you can put the OTO/599 F1 Superfast clutch/gearbox into an earlier 612 model, I’m not so sure about.

Chris- No, no. The 612 OTO and Sessanta had the twin disc dry plate clutch of the 599, along with the gearbox case from the 599. The F430 and derivatives also had twin disc clutches, as did some 348s. Larry was not talking about the often confused DCT.

The easy answer to the original question is no, you need the 599 gearbox case to make the parts match up, plus I am sure there are some additional changes to get the 612 gearbox internals into the 599 case. You can check the parts catalogs and see what would have to be changed, but it would not be economically feasible. Remember, too, that early 612s are Motronic 7.1.1 and later ones were 7.3.2, so the TCUs would not interchange.

The money is no object answer is sure, if you are willing to spend a fortune doing it.

Thanks Terry. I thought it was probably wishful thinking since I hadn't read about anybody doing it.
