I spoke to a Ferrari dealer and he told me that the 612 2008 model which should be out Sep 2007 will be different. How different he does not know. Any one has any info or can you ask around if there is any truth to this news as I am receiving mine in March 2007 and I could delay it to Sep or Oct to get the newer one. Thanks

Its hard to tinker with perfection, IMO. Perhaps they will add some subtle elements inspired from the 612 Kappa.

I bet the headlamps will be changed to look more like the 599. It appears that PF/Ferrari is also going with more louvered vents, etc.

I was looking at the history of the Ferrari 456. It started rolling out in 1994 and got changed to 456M in 1998. This could be the case for the 612. I need to know what was the difference between the 456 and 456M.

Why not just pumping out Kappas? I think that would be a hit. (Though Mr. K would probably not be too happy about that)

:( no joke...it's knucklehead dealer comments like that that make it harder to sell 612s.
FWIW, I have heard no such "rumors".

The M doesn't have the Daytona-esque indents in the hood; aside from some other, minor cosmetic and power differences, they look pretty identical.

Why would a "new" 612 be offered with poor sales, existing inventory, and the 599 about to enter?

Maybe Ferrari is passing this info to assist its dealers in unloading their existing inventory of 612's!

Anyone have a feel for this?

Dont you think that because sales are slow they need to update the car to make it more interesting for it's potential buyers especially that they can not produce more 599's to meet the demand. So a new 612 would interest new customers and lighten the waitting list from the 599. Just a thought

It's all possible, but I just don't get what an update is going to do for the dealers with new, on-hand inventory!

I think that the dealers should be the best to tell you what the changes should be. The best way to find out, I would imagine, is to tell them that you wish to delay delivery to the new updated model that they are telling you about no matter how small or big the change is. This should start them backpeddling in trying to convince you to take yours. I'll bet your salesman will have a lot of explaining to do to his manager. Dealers are all crooks, and fairweather friends. I wouldn't be surprised if they simply tell you that there are no changes scheduled and that the salesman was mistaken. Why don't they just operate based on facts, instead of these backroom rumors, treat us like adults that have the ability to own these cars. What salesman owns one?

There is nothing perfect about the 612.
