im looking for a ferrari 612 hgt2, but from what ive seen every HGT2 has the chrome challenge rims...chrome rims on a ferrari doesnt fit my tastes...was it possible to get a 612 HGT2 with the silver challenge rims?

Do you mean "ball-polished" and not chrome? Ball-polished 20" challenge wheels are on my 612 HGT2 and look more aluminum like to me ... not like chrome at all.

On the 612 configurator there were 2 types of challenge rims, silver and polished. From what I've seen the polished challenge rim looks like chrome to me...and the HGT2 package says it includes ball polished challenge rims....the silver challenge rims are exactly like the ones that came standard on the 360 challenge stradale. I'm wondering if it was possible to get a 612 HGT2 with the silver challenge rims

Can you post a picture of your rims?

It's just a paint. Cant you get them stripped and refinished to your liking?

I suppose but there were 2 styles of 20 inch challenge rims available for the 612. Standard and polished... Haven't found an HGT2 with the standard challenge rims

I am no expert and maybe I am missing your point but there is only one style of challenge rims (the ones that were introduced on the 360CS). Ball polished and standard are just finishes for the rims. I remember reading on the forum that ball polished, which looks like chrome, is just a paint finish and can be stripped and repainted to look like standard and vice versa.

That's what I mean. I want a 612 HGT2 with the standard finish challenge rims. The standard finish is available on a standard 612. Chrome on a Ferrari is just wrong...and I'd rather not have to have the chrome rims stripped and redone...sorry I'm a bit picky lol :) this document suggests you can get the standard finish on an hgt2

    Here are my ball-polished wheels:

They seem like dull aluminum, to me anyway!

Nice wheels :) those are the polished challenge wheels. The standard challenge wheels are just silver colored like on the 360 CS

I just bought a 612 and my car also came with the "ball polished rims" and I do agree they look like chrome and I had the same hesitation as you. Some people will argue ball polished is much nicer to chrome but it is fairly similar looking I agree. You can get standard silver rims but I think it is an extra charge. I have considered refinishing my wheels but for now I have left them as is. Relative to finding the right car in the right condition, right options and miles the wheels were a small factor which I figured I could change down the road if I wanted to.

SPG1- You are not listening to what people are telling you. Ball polished wheels are just a special paint finish and do not look either polished or chromed in real life. Go find a car with ball polished wheels and look at them to see for yourself. if a car with HGT2 came with ball polished wheels and you want regular argento finish, any competent paint shop can overpaint with PPG 36520, variously Argento Metallic and Argento Nurburgring, without stripping the wheels. Ferrari has used PPG 36520 on wheels for quite a while.

SPG1- Ball polished monolithic or Challenge wheels have been optional on the F430, 612, and 599. Since it is just paint, no problem making it an option on all those wheels. Ball polish finish on the 19" 612 modulars was standard as part of the HGTC package on early 612s. Probably an option on the regular 612s as will.
