I find myself wanting a 612 more each day, but I'm not seeing OTOs or HGTCs showing up on the marketplace these days (at least locally) as they were in the past.

Yes, those variants are desirable, but how much of a difference would I feel if I'm interested in a just a solid driving and elegant Ferrari GT car? 8 tenths? 9 tenths? Thanks.

HGTC a must due to exhaust noise.

Keep em 100% original. You don’t own a Ferrari, you look after it for future generations!!

Having owned a 308, a 355, a 430 and now a 612 I think they are all unique in their own way. The 355 is best, but sometimes, later in life, you want a quieter, bigger F-car that still has that sound on punching it fwiw.

Personally, I prefer the stock OTO sounds. It is reasonably quiet at low speeds, and sounds great at 5000 RPM and above. I don't like having a loud idle.

I have an 05 non HGTC, the Stock Exhaust was very quiet. I was able to acquire a pair of HGTC Mufflers and swapped, the difference in sound is night and day! I would argue that for a "Stock" Ferrari Exhaust the HGTC mufflers make the 612 one of the greatest sounding V12 s I have ever experienced (and I have experienced lot!!) The only one that comes close is the 599 Aperta! If you scroll through my Instagram feed (@DryL8k) you will find a video or two featuring the amazing Exhaust! As for performance, I have zero complaints! The "base" 612 delivers everything exceptionally, the F1 is a blast on the open roads and twisties!! If you plan to use it as a D.D. and commute in heavy stop n go traffic it won't be much fun! The 612 shines as an open road GT car and carves canyons like a true Ferrari should!
    A few things I appreciate..
-Last of the Pininfarina designed 2+2
-Last of the N.A. V12s with 540 hp!!
-Analog (you can DIY most repairs and service)
-Timeless design (the 612 will someday be what the 250 Lusso is today)
-Low production numbers 3k world wide. Not sure how many came to the usa but chances are you will Never come across another one when you are out and about!
    - Comfortable! Back seats are usable for both adults and kids.
    - Did I mention 540 hp?? Take the traction control off and the 612 will roast the rear wheels and drift like the italian slead it is!

These are just a few things I appreciate about the 612!

HGTS has the same exhaust as the HCTC. Biggest difference between the two is the CCM brakes.

All the 612s make great GTs with the gradual increase in desirability going: vanilla 612, HGTS, HGTC, interim 612 (late 07/early 08 with improved 125ms shifting) with CCMs and HGT2 (sometimes called HGTC), OTO/Sessanta without or with HGT2.

Should have said HGT1 for the Sessanta.

It depends how you will drive the car. If you want something fast, handles well, is stylish and comfortable then the standard car is very nice.

If you really want to drive the car, and I mean, really drive it hard, on twisty roads, etc. then you need at least the HGTC handling pack because the steel brakes really can’t handle a proper spirited drive for more than a few miles. But, you will sacrifice ride comfort.

The HGxx exhaust is a no brainer, it is by far the best OEM sound. Maybe a full system with 6:1 headers, etc will sound much better but it’s costly and non-standard.

The reality is that all these cars are getting on now. As a result, condition is probably more important now than original purchase specification for how the car is going to drive.

Thanks for all the feedback. This would be driven primarily as a GT car-- I'll keep the 458 for more demanding duties-- so it seems I'd be happy with the base car in good condition. Then again, values seem to be dropping off across the board from pandemic heights, so who knows...
