My radio worked fine until last week when the message "check antenna" came up. Has anyone had this experience and, if so, was there a reasonable resolution?
I am not sure if it is the same thing. On my 07 the satellite radio stopped working and it said “no signal”. What it was is there is an antenna cable on the right hand side trunk hinge. Over time with the constant opening and closing of the trunk it caused the cable to internally break. My mechanic had it fixed. Apparently it is a common problem.
Easiest way to check it is to wiggle the cable on the trunk hinge while the radio is on. If it is just an internal break then you should see the signal go on and off as the internal cable ends touch. Have somebody sit in the car and watch the stereo signal read out. It is not instantaneous. Takes about 3 or 4 seconds for the connection to turn into a signal recognized by the radio.
That's good to know. And now when someone else has the problem and does a search, this thread should come up.
It was between the trunk lid and the car. The antenna on my 612OTO is on the trunk lid. It looks like the trunk hinge might have pinched it. I have ordered a coax splice and will report on fix--I hope.
Ok, thanks. So it was in the same place as mine. I had my cable inside of a black plastic cable surround so I wasn’t sure if we had the same problem. So that is you, donv and me with the same problem.
The stereo shop has no answers. I've been advised to avoid replacing the radio as "everything runs through the radio"? Any help out there?
