2 questions about my '08 612 OTO - now federally insured!

engine note - from inside the car, I can hear a whine whose pitch varies with rpm, and is audible whether the car is in or out of gear. It's not too loud, but a bit truck like - anyone notice anything like that?

bluetooth - have the new Bose system - I can hear others fine, but they can barely hear me. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

On the whine, do you mean like a radio interferrence whine or a regular from the engine bay noise? Don't have anything like that on my '08. On the Blue Tooth, I couldn't even get mine to connect, so you are one up on me. Mine's at the dealer and they've managed to get it to actually connect, so its a case of trying it when I'm there to connect it.

What I can say is that in my 430 Scud the blue tooth is kind of pointless for the reason you describe. I can hear others fine, but unless I'm going about 20mph they can't hear me at all. Its fine if I use the handset but not really any good to use blue tooth on the highway. I was hoping that the 612 would resolve that problem, new bose set up and all, but perhaps not from what you're saying. I'll report back when I have my car back.

We had the same issues with the BT in our 05 612. With some testing and experimentation, we discovered it worked fine when at rest, but when in motion not so much: We could hear others fine, but they could hardly hear us. My guess was that it had to do with road noise and poor microphone placement and quality. I'm disappointed, but not surprised to hear that it apparently has not been improved with time. Not a high priority for Ferrari...

    Thanks for the replies!

The bluetooth issue sounds like par for the course. I'll just use a headset/earpiece, I guess.

The whine is an engine whine, part of the engine noise. Again, pitch varies with rpm, and is independent of gear choice, load, etc. Hard to describe a noise.

I've just started using the bluetooth in my 612 the last few days, and somebody commented to me today that I sounded like I was "talking in a box." So I guess it's a common problem.

As for the whine, do you get it with the stereo off? Sounds to me like an isolation problem.

Do you have the sport exhaust? Mine is the standard, so I suppose that could be a factor. It's certainly not anything I've noticed.
