I'm looking for pics of the 612 in Grigio Silverstone. Anyone have any?
Apologies. I only read the first sentence of your post. I only have Rubino Metallico, or something like that, which is owned by and F-chatter in the Pacific Northwest region. It's an angle sensitive car but from these angles it is stunning. How dare you post these photos in my thread ;-). Actually these are my 2 favorite colors for the 612, so now I only have to go to one place. Thanks!
He doesn't, but I do. Grab it from http://www.brokenpoint.net/OurItalianCars/images/2004-1118-Scaglietti%20036.jpg. Check out the thumbs at http://www.brokenpoint.net/OurItalianCars/ for a few more. Rubino Micalizzato is the name of the color.
Unfortunately I don't. I downloaded them from F-chat some time ago. They were taken by the owner, I believe. I don't remember his name but I know he lives in the Pacific Northwest. I've seen him post in that forum. He may have some higher resolutions shots. Hope that helps. Forza, Cavallini
Gorgeous shots, and thanks for the correct color spelling. You own a QP and a 612? How do they compare? The QP is gorgeous but that color on the 612 is absolutely stunning. Many thanks, Cavallini
Heres a car fomr Peter Kalikow's collection- I think it is in tdf blue, not sure. Not such a great a shot, I suck at taking pictures. http://img69.echo.cx/img69/21/088880gy.jpg http://img12.echo.cx/img12/2506/089899oc.jpg
Following on if anyone has pics of 612 in Nero. The best color on this car. Especially with full laser'd limo tint..beautiful.
Hey Eric. The pics from your Florida trip have a few pics of the car on a wrecker. There were daylight and nightime pics. Mind me asking what the issue was, and was it one or two instances?
It got towed twice. An intermittent problem would manifest itself at the oddest moments by causing the car to fail to start after random periods of seeming faultless behavior (symptoms were: all lights in car lit fine when key was turned to first position, but starter wouldnt spin when turned to starting position). First time it happened I was in Palo Alto, so had it towed to FofSanFrancisco. They pored over it and could find nothing. Car started every time they tried it, no faults were indicated in the SD3, etc. So I took it back and drove on. 4000 miles and two weeks later, it decided it didn't want to start late Sunday evening (10:30PM) after the race (Rolex 24hr of Daytona). Called Ferrari Roadside assist, had it trucked to Orlando, and they pored over it for a few days. Of course, the intermittent misbehavior failed to manifest itself for them for three days, but I was playing in the everglades, and doing other stuff, so they kept it around for a few days more until I could get back. The, late one evening as they went to pull it into the shop at the end of the work day, it decided it didn't want to start. AHAH!! I was vindicated, and proven to be not totally crazy. So they tore into it: no faults in the computer. They checked voltage and amps to the starter, and wondered if there was a problem with it. So they pulled the starter, bench tested, and it behaved fine. Lots of head scratching ensued. Finally, the tech took a look under a plastic cover to look at the common bar where the alternator, starter and battery cables all come together. The nut on the lug to the battery cable had backed off, allowing that cable to be loose, get hot, and occasionally, not deliver sufficient voltage to push the starter solenoid out. Fix was simple: tighten the nut.
Not sure I can compare the two. Theyre both awesome cars. And I love em both. Theyre both extremely fun to drive and very comfortable. Weve had both on long drives and I cant really say one is much better at a long drive than the other. The 612 is awesome with the amount of power it delivers. Theres just nothing quite like a v12. It never fails to make me smile. I think it is marginally more comfortable than the Maserati. The seats are more snug-fitting, and I have more head room. But the tight seats are also a downfall on a long drive (more than 8 hours a day). The QP is also amazing in its ability to get out of its way. It makes wonderful sounds, and the V8 is incredibly responsive. I think its an incredibly sexy car. And it gets as many if not more looks than the 612 or any other Ferrari Ive owned. The car handles great. It goes around the tightest turns as flat as a gokart. The seats are very comfortable, if not so much a bucket that seems to surround you as the 612. I could use an inch more head room, too. Both are great on long cruises. Both are fun on tight twisty bits. I find the ergonomics in both to be very good. They both bring a smile to my face whenever I drive them. All things being equal, Ill usually choose the 612 for its spooky power: still have yet to really push it to the limits either laterally on longitudinally. Not that I havent pushed it, but the limits are way out there, and I havent had time to take it to the track to really get some time at the limits to get a feel for it. Thats coming soon.
Polarizer filter on camera shows the polarizing treatment on the glass. Same thing happens with Polarized sunglasses.
Here is a couple I took during the Ferrari Racing Days 05 in Germany... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Many thanks for the valuable real world insights. How do they compare to other makes you've owned or driven? BMW, MB, Porsche, other Ferraris et al. Everything I've heard here and read elsewhere says the QP and the 612 are head and shoulders above their direct competitors. Many thanks again, Cavallini
just saw a very dark blue 612 with modular wheels at Ferrari of Quebec, absolutely stunning. I like it alot more than the 575
