what would a black on black 05 with 30ish thousand miles on it be worth...
It would depend on condition, service history (should have had two belt services done), clutch condition, options, etc. $125-145k unless the seller is extremely desperate and as long as the car is clean. It is possible to buy cars below that but they will likely be unserviced or have tainted history.
According to FNA, timing belt replacement is every 5 years or 30K miles, whichever occurs first. The car in question should have had only one belt service by this time.
Good point. In 2005 the FNA position was 3 years/15k miles. I had to do a belt service to get the extended power warranty on mine in 2008 after 3 years even though the car only had 10k miles. You are very correct that it would be ridiculous to have two belt services but I would never buy any v12 Ferrari without extensive maintenance receipts and records.
it is on ebay now for auction, take a look and let me know what you gentlemen think....... it is listed under ferrari 612.
** I really do not understand why the 612 pricing is so cheap! But it is what it is - a top daily driver should 25-35k a year and at 140k I dont see the 612 prices dropping to 70-90k in two years. The big hit has been taken ----- BUT IT NOW
look at the 456... thats about all I have to say... or even a 250 2+2 compared to the rest of the columbo crowd
It appears the 'bad' color combinations have a big impact on the pricing, and the older cars of 2005 with 15K miles seem to be the least desireable and are priced much lower, near the $120-30k range. 2008 cars vary a lot in price it seems, but low mileage ones can be had for just over $200,000 for sure, maybe a month or so from now they may be lower as it seems most are not selling right now. Same cars have been for sale for some time, so not sure what the market is today. The trend seems to point to lower prices in this market today, and not many buyers.
Drew is correct. Unfortunately, more like they ripped you off. Your dealer was wrong and that was not FNA's position in Oct 2005. Tech bulletin reiterating one issued by FNA in Oct 2002, less the 612 references, obviously. For some reason, most dealers still cannot "remember" this one. Even though the literature that came with all 612s said five year belt changes. It is 5 years for the 575s, too. Taz Terry Phillips Image Unavailable, Please Login
whiel I agree that the 612 is an amazing car etc... "those who fail to learn from history are destined to repeat it"
Justin's reference is to the fact that 2+2 models have always depreciated faster than 2 seat models and have always bottomed out way lower than contemporary 2 seat Ferraris. That is the history, so I leave you to your own conclusions on what will happen to 612 prices. Taz Terry Phillips
** Thats really not my point. The reason you cant compare Ferrari models is because everyone uses their Ferrari for different reasons. The 612 is most likely a daily drive and the 599 is most likely a weekend car. All I was saying if you are able to use the 612 for both its a great deal, as avg. high end daily driver depreciates 25-35 k a year. As long as your buying a depreciating asset the "use" may help justify the means. Today's Ferrari is becoming a daily driver.
