Hi there, I am on the list for a 2009 production 612, but have been hearing mixed reports its going to be replaced soon. Does anyone have any info? Whats the prodcution cut off for the 612. It would be a shame to spend that much money on a new 612 only to have it replaced immediatly after delivery. Any ideas? Thanks.
To be honest, I haven't even given it much thought. A 612 replacement seems right in the next couple of years. If that's the case, it not spending the money on a 612 I'd be worried about - it would be getting it all back after hearing of a 612 replacement. Although Im sure anything new is going to obviously be miles higher in $$ above a 'used' 612, so there will be a market for the car. I don't know - coins still up in the air for you my friend. I say buy the 612 now and sell it when you have to pay for the new one. Best of luck, _J
I think that's always a risk, but I'd be a bit surprised if they introduced a 612 replacement too quickly. They just updated it, and I would guess their focus right now is on meeting the upcoming Euro emissions standards rather than replacing it.
Don't know about Ferrari, but most companies come up with a special "updated" version right before releasing the new model.
Ferrari isn't going to want to take any of the spotlight away from next year's rollout of the California so I would guess the world is going to have to wait 2 -3 more years for replacement.
Ferrari tends to do "special editions"-- for example the 550 Barchetta, 360CS, 348SS etc. at the end of the run. Updates are usually done in mid-run.
Is there a set time for when the model should be replaced? every 5 or 10 years? How does it work with other models like the 430 or 599? and how long has the 612 been in production?
First 612s came off the line in 2004 as model year 2005, I believe, so you're looking at a run of four years so far. For what it's worth, the 456 came out in 1992 as a 93 model and ended production in 2003, with the M coming on in 1999. A ten year run with an update halfway through. If my source is accurate, approximately 3,289 of all versions where built worldwide as follows: 456 GT: 1,548; 456 GTA 403;456M GT 688; 456M GTA 650. About 1 and a half times as many premodified as modified cars were built before production ended. Whether that will hold for the 612 as well, meaning that there will be fewer sessantas and one-to-ones than the prior 612, remains to be seen.

thanks guys for your input, so far its a 50-50 chance for end production in 2009. Can anyone here ask their dealers? Lets see if anyone can actually get a build spot. If this model is gonna stop might as well get a 599 until the replacement comes out....am sure it will hold better value than a 612.
Gosh, the 612 was introduced for 2005 model year. I couldn't imagine it being given the designation M for "modificata" [modified] until 2010, and I couldn't imagine it being replaced fully until, say, 2013.
