I am interested in purchasing a 612 with the HGTS or HGTC package. From articles I have read about these packages it really seems to make a big difference to the car.

There are currently 27 612's on the market with an average price of $227,000 (see attached), one of which is new with delivery miles. Only three have one of these packages which is not surprising because it was only available on later editions. My three questions are...

    1. What kind of discount can a cash buyer expect off of MSRP? Deep discounts would make purchasing new more attractive than used.

    2. What is the 2008 MSRP and price of options? Is there anywhere I can find this information myself.

    3. If ordered now, what would be the approximate wait time to get one?

    Thanks.

    1. Depends on your dealer and your relationship with them. I believe a small discount is a possibility, but not a large one (in percentage terms, at least). They are not building many 612s at this point, so there is less pressure on the dealers to move them.

    2. Your dealer should be able to provide this. Mine gave me a complete options and price list, but not in electronic form. Figure around $300k, though, with some options. I think the base car is around $268k.

    3. Hard to say. The November build car I was offered would have to have been spec'ed out a few weeks ago, and would arrive in the US in January if it's on time. So that's about as quick as you could possibly get one. But in fact you have to either find an open slot or wait for one to open up.

As far as new versus used, clearly a used car is the "better" deal. The US market always seems to have lots of low mileage cars out there which have already taken some depreciation hit. But, any 612, new or used, is going to take a major depreciation hit. Given that, personally, I'd prefer to have a new one, with everything exactly the way I want it.

Thanks donv for your reply. I see an earlier thread mentions a discount of up to $50k, but I guess that depends on my local dealers (Ferrari of Scottsdale) slot availability and eagerness to negotiate.

I found the "perfect" car for me a few months ago. It was one year old with 2600mi and had all of the options I would have ordered. I saved almost $60K off MSRP.

Silverstone with Black interior with Charcoal inserts and stitching (Daytonas)
    HGT-S package in a 6 speed
    Yellow calipers and tach
    Heated seats
    Shields
    Infotainment and phone
    Trickle charger

I enjoy this car more than the F430 F1 and plan to keep it for a long time.

Bottom line is that you should order a new car if you plan to keep the car for a long time. If you plan on getting out of it in a few years, wait for the "perfect" car and buy used.

I bought my 612 with approx 6K on it. I was patient until I found the right car, I am very sure its a car I wont sell. I find that the premiums in the market that drive the prices over 240 or 250K are not worth it. however if u really want to cuztomize a car to ur taste and can afford the hit on the premium....go ahead a place an order wait for the car and keep it. Do not spend more than the low 200 for a used 612. But in my opinion it is the ultimate production ferrari.

If you want to get new 612 it will be better to wait for 612 M or to get used 612 well kept and with low mileage.

I'd be quite surprised if you could get $50k off of a car you ordered. Maybe one they have in inventory, though. Perhaps I'm wrong?

I followed the 612 market closely for about 1.5 years before I purchased my car. About 6 months ago at about the same time as many positive posts about the 612 appeared on this site, the few dozen 612s on the market that had been sitting for months were purchased within about 6 weeks. The positive feedback about the car (which is deserved) resulted in a surge in interest in the car. I still think the interest today is higher than it was a year ago. Now people are looking for the good color/well appointed cars where the older, less well optioned cars have fallen below 200K. This is a great car and if purchased for a good price will hold its value better than other GT cars in the same price range.

I agree completely. My point was that I doubted a dealer would allow you to ORDER a NEW car, spec'ing it to your desires, and then give you a $50k discount.

Mine will probably be rather lightly optioned, but that's what I want, and since I don't plan to sell I'm not too concerned about resale.

    hello everyone!

can i offer an idea here?

i purchased my 612 with 45k miles. to some F-car owners this would bring about a shudder. on the other hand, consider this:

any "gremlins" that may reveal themselves have probably already emerged and been dealt with. the car is, truly, broken in well. and, of course, the price should reflect the mileage.

many people have driven my 612 and every one of them has commented it is the smoothest driving 612 they've ever encountered. because.....it's been driven!!!

and, in case anyone was wondering - yes!!! it IS my daily driver. almost at 50k!

the most amazing car i've ever driven, owned, or dreamed of. look for high miles in good condition, is my opinion.

    cheers - John

I don't think there are many other 612s in the US with the mileage yours has!

Which is a bit of a shame, when you think about it...
