    Morning everybody

My friend has just added wide (white with dark blue edged) stripes over the bonnet/roof/boot lid (or should I say hood/roof/trunk) of his silver 812 Superfast which has totally transformed the car and it has got me thinking about adding something similar to my subtle Grigio 612, maybe even the Tricolore version.

Doesn't seem to be many images on line other than this one attached (not sure about the lower half black though).

What's your thoughts on this and has anybody already done it or similar??

I have a pristine 612 with no visible markings. Even the wheel caps are chrome so you can't see the horse unless you look closely. So I like the clean look of this remarkable design. However, the photo shows already that the car has the side emblems, so putting a stripe on it isn't so bad. You have to decide what image you want the car to project -- or for that matter, whether you want an image at all. Do you want the car to say "Beautiful design?" Or do you want the car to say "Hot car Ferrari"?

Since you asked, naff. Stripes and shields and things are for the boy racer cars, not the 612.

Neil, I'm not sure why you are even asking this question. Does it really matter what others think of YOUR car? No it does not. It's YOUR car, so do with it what YOU want. Don't let other people decide for you. But I do think the others have touched on a very good point here...the 612 really is a design where elegance and class are the defining characteristics. If you want to personalize your car, then try to keep it elegant and classy as you do it...however you define those words. And let us know how it turns out.

It’s not that kind of car, in my opinion. Think of the elegant side scallops as a form of racing stripes and maybe that’s enough to scratch that itch for you.

It's your car do as you please. If you decide to proceed you can always take the stripe off if you do not like the look. The cost would not break the bank. I say go for it and see how YOU feel about how YOUR car looks.

It’s your car, do as you wish.

But nooooooo, the 612 is a super classy and elegant design. Stripes IMHO are not made for her ;)

    Thanks for all the feedback.
Sounds like a resounding no from most and you are all correct, it is probably one of the most understated Ferraris out there and that is one of the things I like about it, I was just so impressed with my friends 812 when he added the stripe and was curious if it could work on a 612 and hoped this post might bring some images out of the woodwork to have a look at, but it appears there don't seem to be many!
An 812 lends itself more to this kind of dressing up I know, but I might still try it and see what it looks like, if it looks crappy its a simple fix to reinstate.
    Watch this space...
