The battery went dead for the first time on my 612 and I cannot find the manual release for the rear trunk. I know on some earlier Fcars I have had there was a small pull tab behind the drivers seat but cannot find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In order to find the manual release for the rear trunk I found you have to pull down the center arm rest for the back seats and pull the leather upper piece that is help by velcro and it is behind this piece.

My battery is dead as we speak. The 612 is in Miami and I plan to go down there next week to change the battery. By the way which battery did you use to replace the factory battery- the FIAMMA or the Interstate(which model?)? Was there an alternator issue? How do you usually store your 612 for longer periods- unplugg the battery or use a tender?

Interms of trunk manual pull, the other answer is right. You probably need to insert a passcode into the radio as well.

    Thanks

Alfred- Some of your fellow 612 owners say the Interstate MTP-93 is the correct replacement. Here is the FIAMM recommended battery and its dimensions and a link to the specs on the MTP-93.

    The L5 100+ dimensions in inches are L 13.90", W 6.89", H 7.48".

Ricambi carries the original battery for ~$285.

I bought a factory charger off of ebay and plan on using so I don't have to deal with this one again. Its amazing all the tech info you guys produce, I love this site.

Mine will start after about two weeks of sitting. Beyond that it can go either way. I just had the dealer replace the battery. I will check to see what they used.

And the poster above was correct.

Rear center armrest, pull away velcro flap, pull T handle in hole on the right side. The travel is fairly long and you will hear it pop to release the trunk. Good luck.
