I am new to the 612 section since my purchase of a 2006 612. So far I have been really enjoying it since I can really use it as family car with two small children. Today the driver side window opens all the way as soon as I close the door. Once inside the car with door closed I can raise the window about two inches at a time. Very weird. Any ideas what could be causing this??

Trick the door in to being closed while the door is fully open by latching the latch with a screwdriver. If the problem doesn’t persist, it’s probably chafing on the wiring loom in the door hinge side. Don’t forget to fully open latch with door handle be re closing.

Had a similar problem on my passenger side last year including having to tease the window up two inches at a time and having it drop down at random and inappropriate times! There's a pinch sensor built into the door gasket and the indy shop I used at the time was convinced that was it - it wasn't. However there's a small ECU board built into the base of the window switch and that resolved it. Unfortunately, the board and switches are an assembly and no longer supported so you'll have to do some hunting. Also, you may be told that the board has to be programmed to the car to sync up ... in my case it was strictly plug and play. Looks like Driver's side for LH drive might be Part # 240065 but DO check. Good luck!

Thank you guys for the responses. I didnt mention in the original post that this first occurred while being detailed at the carwash so I figured something couldve gotten wet during the cleaning. I have also read about many issues pertaining to a failing battery. So I decided to let the car dry out while I charged up the battery. I turned the battery switch off and hooked up the charger while it dried out in the garage. Update, after charging the battery to near full capacity and letting the car dry out for a couple days, I turned the battery back on and messed with the door latch with the door open as Fcar dreams suggested, then shut the door normally and now it seems to be working fine. Fingers crossed it was just a little moist or a simple battery change. Image Unavailable, Please Login
