My warranty is expired in the next few months. I have an option to purchase an extended warranty (on a yearly basis per Ferrari USA). I only have a very short experience in my 2006, less than 3 weeks. One incident though: The engine light was on, and the dealer fixed it in less than 10 minutes. Should I go ahead to buy a piece of comfort or the warranty is truly needed? What is your experience on 612s in terms of mechanical reliability?

I think mechanically these cars are pretty resilient. Perhaps electronically we may see something crop up as time marches on. Nevertheless most any issue on these cars is bound to be much more expensive to repair than the warranty extension would cost - so chances are it could weigh out to your favor to consider one.

Well, I am no expert on 612's and reliability but FWIW, be sure to read the fine print so you know what is covered. Extended warranties cover only certain parts. If it provides the peace of mind that you need then go for it but in my experience an extended warranty is offered so that the company can make more $$$. I am saying this about ext. warranties in general, not Ferrari specific....

you should buy the power cube warranty, I was only able to buy the power warranty because the power cube must be purchased prior to the expiration of the orig. warranty. Buy it from Alan at Orange County Ferrari service. They give the best prices on the warranty, I shopped it from all different dealers. They actually gave me a better price than the dealer that I bought the car from. Definitely buy it. Power warranty is not as good coverage, lots and lots of excuses from Ferrari NA when it comes to coverage. Power cube is more like the orig. warranty.

I would go for the warranty purely for the piece of mind it would offer.
