I am trying to put a value on a 62 250 gte it has no engine or trans interior is completely torn up.The owner is asking 19500usd which sounds very high to me. Anybody have some thoughts on this ?
Without the engine or transmission it is worth next to nothing, and buying an engine and transmission will be differcult and expensive. You will have to fight off the replica mungrels ... Even if you put another makes engine in her ... she will still be worth next to nothing Every now and then engines do come on the market ... Pete
That sounds like one of those cars that everybody will turn up their nose at, but if it were 2 miles down the road from them, they would be trying their best to swing a deal on it. If it's a Ferrari, it's worth saving even IF you have to put a Chevy engine under the hood. If anybody gives you any flak about it, then don't give them a ride! Are you going to make an offer, or are they firm about the price?
Its worth $4-6k. Max. Sounds like someone has already snagged the motor and gearbox for a replica. Run away, run away.
It is worth as much as you are willing to spend to hang it on the wall since that is all you can do with it. $ 19500 is crazy! I love 250GTEs. I almost bought one a few years back with 2 owners, perfect running condition and lower miles for $ 30,000. Today I kick my a$$ but then.....looking back is always easy. I'd say $4000 is all I'd give.
Quotes tend to be a tad low here: http://www.vmrintl.com/cctm/cctmenus/cctmprcs/62fe25te.htm if you like, benchmark above $# above against 32,5K - 50K in Gold Price Guide for #2 - #1
Not really. 5 is a parts car. A complete parts car. The engine is worth about $8k, gearbox maybe $4k. Its worth what someone is willing to pay, but "it ain't worth much".
I would like thank everybody to responding to my question. I think best offer should be $6k to $8k range. If I get the GTE I will post again. Once again thanks everybody
