Nope.. I have seeen restoration pictures of the bertone.. Also correct is the that after it was shown at the motorshow, it was sold to a spanish owner who had the headlights changed and the rear light (mistral now I think) and a mexico engine put in. There was no rebody as far as I know.. I will try and get more pics but i
Folks, the Bertone "5000 GT" was never a true 5000 GT!! It was always fitted with a very early V8-engine and got a Mistral dashboard. The car is not stamped "103" (as this is the code for the 5000 GT)- its numbered 104.004 (although this is NOT the code for the Mistral-serie!). The car is/was a true prototype! Ciao! Walter
Panini says his car (062) was re-bodied. If it was not the Bertone car, what was it? FGM PS From Maseratis to Balsamic Glaze we invite you to take a test taste! Great with Panini Cheese. Frank, as to my knowledge the car was always an Allemano-5000 GT. Completed on Febr. 14, 1964. First owner was Giancarlo Guasti. He returned it to the Factory where it was kept until it came to Panini in 1997. Ciao! Walter

The engine of this car was installed by Peter Kaus in his 151-Replica-project and displayed in his Collection in Aschaffenburg/Germany. Now the project is in England owned by B.B. When did this body came on the car? I have this about chassis #22: 1961/nov/01 Completed Painted Grey with white leather interior Lucas fuel injection, 4-speed ZF manual 1961/dec Sold new to Alfonso Lopez Portillo, President of Mexico 196. Sold to Diaz Barroso, Mexico 1965 Car damaged in accident, sent back to factory for rebuilt and renumbered 19.. Ford V8 engine installed, Car located in Mexico 19.. Sold to Jerry Wood, Houston, TX, USA together with original engine (>>> not possible!!) Restored by Joe Piscazzi 1999/aug/29 Displayed at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elgegance >>> in that tatty condition with its Mexico-body on it? I assume here is something wrong. Are you sure that its #22 with the Mexico-coachwork? Ciao! Walter
Don't know anymore where I got these photos from Walter. With your information I'm tempted to doubt the source of my information. Best Boudewijn
Obviously your source is Enrico's Maserati site http://www.maserati-alfieri.co.uk/alfieri06lllll.htm page is large, scroll down to pictures and info about s/n 022
Well, not much on his passionate website is accurate on historic infos/facts etc.! On the ohotos you see that the original engine is lost today. I assume the Factory put it out of the car when the new coachwork was done on it and later sold it to Peter Kaus. Ciao! Walter
