Hi F-Chat - we just pulled this out of an AZ carport - sitting there for 20 some years. 66 Mustang, 6 cy, Auto, Dealer installed AC. I believe 70K orig miles. Purchased new here in Phoenix at Berge Ford, original owner owned it until , i believe around 2000. My friend bought it and parked it - placed in his covered carport here in Queen Creek, AZ. 2 owner car, orig keys, protecto plate, paperwork. Never hit, dented or dinged, no cancer, just surface rust typical of AZ cars. One same color repaint. We drained tank, fuel system, cleaned carb, started the car, addressed the brakes, installed new harmonic balancer. Needs tires (original bias plus dry rotted) . Perfect body and interior. You can see and tell the panel fit, doors are perfect like new - never apart and doors close solid as well. Motor runs smooth!! Great car to cleanup and drive, or a great body for the resto mod crowd. Now needs a bath, cleaning in and out and ready to go!! Here are a few pic, feel free to ask questions and I'll do my best to fill in the blanks. Price 22,500.00 Help a brother out!! Too perfect for a resto-mod... beautiful original that just needs to be washed! Now is the part where I remind myself I already have too many cars.... including a similar age/color 289 Mustang my father in law cleaned up for my son!
Post the vin, then folks can search it and figure out if the A/C is factory or dealer added option. 200 CID 6 cylinder, 3 speed automatic, but the car had lots of available options and a vin search can detail that. D
Very sweet car. I would buy in a heartbeat if I had the space. We had a ‘66 coupe, white with red interior. Had a factory red thin pinstripe on the sides. Dad drove our family of 7 from NJ to DC to see the monuments. We even took the parakeet in his little cage.
Here are more pics - showing the AC unit - as i said earlier it is dealer installed - when new - and it is a FORD unit as u can see in the pics more closeups as well! Dash and interior is perfect - cleanup required but all original inside, orig radio, carpets, seats etc.....timepiece that should be cleaned and enjoyed as it is...
The vin will not decode the AC. It will tell you year body style engine and which factory it came out of. If you take a pic of the warranty tag on the end of the driver's door it will show you Color Interior Rear axle ratio Transmission Roughly a date And... One more..m thing... Ohh what district the car was sold in... That is if it's still there... The door hasn't been replaced or the tag hasn't been replaced.
yea we struggled with that as well - and we clearly have the capability to do so....on the other hand, we thought we would leave the joy of bringing it back to life, appearance wise, to the new owner - all depends what a new owner would want. no rush on the sale - it is a great car, and super father son project if someone chooses to do so!
Having a Marti Report run on the Serial no. would show what options were installed at the factory. By looking at the pic of the engine it looks like the compressor is a factory Ford unit.
No records exist for 64-66 mustangs. Marti reports only exist for 67 and later cars. Records for 66 and earlier were deleted. The AC unit and compressor are correct for dealer installed units that were supplied from Ford as dealer installed accessories. 64-66 mustangs were not offered with air from the factory until 1967.
that red cougar looks to be a 68 cougar GT-E one of a very few with a 427 or 428 ..a very interesting car....
One of life's little pleasures is being able to look at an original car of that pedigree and not see rust anywhere on the rocker panels!
yes a very real side oiler car - one of a few clients car for a long time - NOT for sale.....how about a nice original Mustang!
This being a 70k mile car . I would second a good cleaning and detailing to get it sold quick . I have purchased a few sub 100 mile cars before but this isn't that .. just a suggestion for what its worth..
