67 Mustang Driver calls my C4 a Vette

    I went to gas up the C4 on Sunday afternoon and as I was pulling into the Shell station I see and hear a 60's Mustang rev up his engine. I rev back, a bit louder and definitely sounding better and more pronounced. I shut her down and get out to pump the gas he walks over and says "man that things unique, what motor ya running" I proceed to tell him it's a 4.4 litre V12. He looks astonished, and says "you gots a V12 in a Vette, yeah ok buddy" my reply was simply to point to the Prancing Horse and the name plate on the boot, again his look was priceless! When I was done fueling up I got in and stated her back up, leaving the gas station you can only turn right and I needed to go left so you have to make a u-turn about a 1/4 mile down the road as I was going past the gas station I was at full throttle in 2nd gear and EVERYONE was looking, I love the sound of this car! I called my father after I got home and he remarked that he remembered back when he bought it this would happen every now and then, but people got the right idea when they tried to keep up on the road.

    I get the " nice corvette " comment all the time.......I just smile and wave. I guess that I understand....they know it's a unique car.....they just don't know what unique car.

    I was just south of downtown Orlando, it was funny tho. I always try to keep cool in situations like that.

    You guys really care if someone doesn't know what kind of car you have? I love it when people have no idea or ask is that a... But then I don't own any Ferrari clothing either.

    What's a C4? 360, 599?? Sorry, don't know much about newer Ferraris! And, if it gets mistaken
    for a Vette is it living up to Enzo's dream??

    No, hell I love it when people ask, this guy was just funny and I thought people would get a kick out of the story. By the way, what wrong with Ferrari clothing, I mean I'm obviously not talking the NASRCAR style Ferrari stuff you see sometimes but I have a black Polo with a red horse on it.

    Oh also, the 365 GTC/4 is sometimes called just a C4, I grew up with the term, it's what my father always called it so I keep it running, much like the car itself!

    Actually a C4 is a 1984-style Corvette. :)

    I'm always calling them Corvettes.

    A few years back I was prepping the Ferrari C/4 (365 GTC/4) for a ride when the twenty something girl from across the court walked by with her boyfriend, I heard her say while pointing at the little pony in the grill "oh, it's a Mustang". He shot me a quick glance as he shuffled her along. I could hear him explaining to her the error as they walked away.

    Cracked me up!

    I also own a black on black 89 Corvette six-speed which as some have mentioned is known in Corvette circles as a C4.

    Someone once mentioned that Porsche also has a model often referred to as a C4, and suggested I get one of those as well. Please, I am confused enough as it is.
