What can I expect for mileage ? how big is the tank , at 75mph what will the rpm's be ? not looking forward to it but better than transporting it and paying before seeing !

You want to know the RPMs at 75 perchance because the speedometer/odometer has been disconnected?? Be wary of not having accurate mileage recorded for that car.

My 348 Spider reliably gets 21mph out on the highway between 70mph and 75mph.

Click on my profile, then go to my web page for a pre-purchase inspection primer for your 348.

You definitely want to see your 348 before buying, and you certainly want to drive it rather than have it transported. A good 348 is a sweet, sweet, SWEET driver. Miles click by almost as fast as the tourists who will be taking your picture.

I only ask the rpm's because it has been years since I have driven one and neve on the highway . I am the owner of a hi end car repair and autobody shop ao I will do my own prepurchace when I am there if I do not like the car I will hop back on a plane and move on . I have car faxed the car and the mileage is all accountable seems just in line with the 5 other I ran .

The data table in Car & Driver's road test of the 348 Spider (December 1993) says the car will do 20.6mph per 1000rpm in 5th gear. Therefore, 75mph would work out to 3640rpm in 5th gear. The "observed fuel economy" in their road test was 17mpg (general, all-around, driving). The size of the fuel tank is listed as 25.1 gallons.

    It's the Daily Double.

    The subject is "engine service".

Actually the fuel tank in the 348, tb/ts or Spider, is 23.2 gallons. :)

    At 75 miles/hour, you're well above 3,000 RPMs in 5th gear. I'd say about 3,600-3,800.

The Spider has a slightly smaller gas tank to make room for the folding convertible top. 3,600 RPMs would get you pretty close to 75mph in the Spider with its rear end ratio...but that's going to vary on the other models due to different rear end ratios and different 5th gear setups.

Is the gas tank smaller? My copy of the Spider Technical Manual indicates 23.2 gallons...

Right. 88 liters of fuel for the Spider, 95 liters for the TS, TB, GTS, GTB, and Competizione models.

    The 1994 348 Spiders have a 4.34 to 1 final drive ratio.

Ferrari sells speed, not gas mileage, after all!

They might be geared a little short for long distance highway miles, but under 4000 RPM does not seem to be running the motor very fast at all. My $.02.

    impressively steep.
i have 4.30s in my mustang cobra and they are pretty steep (and I only turn 2700rpm at 75 with a 7500rpm redline).

either way, for a high revving motor no big deal.
