    Rock, I presume?

    What sub-type of Rock?

I'll consult my 1997 2nd Edition "All Music Guide to Rock" - it predates allmusic.com, as well as Post-Grunge and so forth, which has distorted modern writer's appreciation of 70's Rock. Under Various Artists - there's 39 pages with roughly a dozen per page - not all of which span 70's-only, of course.

Its always best to make your own...but if you really want to buy one there is one that is definitive.

The 'Have A Nice Decade' box set. 7 discs and covers everything from disco to rock.

I think its by Rhino Records
