Anyone photo's of this car during Watkins Glen 1971 no.50? http://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/1971/Watkins_Glen-1971-07-25c-050.jpg
Only one pic? Can anyone tell what sponsor is on the car (see encircled) AE Enamel??? and the others? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The round sticker appears to be a generic "Sports Car Club of America" emblem. I think all of the CanAm cars carried these.
I believe the square sticker next to the SCCA wheel is the Can-Am logo. A little Canadian Flag to the left and American flag to the right and checkered flag below.
I'm not sure what the black box sponsor logo on the car #40 is. But that particular photo is of a 312PB NOT a 712. You can see a NACA duct on the rear bonnet. The 712's did not have them. There was a #40 712 car but that pic is not of that car. You can also see the rear and front wheel arches do not match the 712 wheel openings in shape. The other 2 sponsor decals are described correctly in the previous posts. Ed IC, Inc
Correct, but the 312 had the same decals. I contacted SSCA and wait for a reply. Both were SSCA/CAN AM decals The black one I do not know (.. / Enamel....???)
One is something like: http://eteamz.active.com/fwtyh/images/tlg_logo.gif can & am flag with A text (no not hockey ) But can't find a good pic on a car in the same period (or the 712 itself) Other is: http://www.trscca.com/trscca/graphics/sccawheel.gif
Since we're talking about Monteverde... Wouter, do you know the serial number of Monteverde's Dino 206 SP...? i had the extreme pleasure of watching him tear around the track at Cavallino and it was a beautiful sight... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
712 has been sold to a friend in the UK. Should make the next Ferrari Challenge race if all goes well. Fun car, very fast but pretty easy to drive. By the way, Carlos put on great show at the TDF last week in his new Lightweight E-Type. Cheers, Bill Noon
Yep I was there as well. Pretty impressive stuff. His antics in the Tour Auto were also quite a sight. Here he can be seen sliding through the last chicane at Magny Cours, he eventually lost it there a couple of laps later: http://www.***************.com/images/slide/tourauto05/3830.jpg Bill and others, the coverage (250 shots) can be found here (there are a couple of shots of a member's yellow Porsche 914/6 GT ): http://www.***************.com/frame.php?file=event_item.php&rid=51 *pop under alert* To get slightly back on topic. Knapfield was supposed to enter a Ligier JS2 in the Tour Auto, but sadly he did not make it.
Wow!!! I hope going off topic here wont get me in too much trouble. Thanks for the link to the Tour Auto photos...they are awesome! This was one incredible day of racing after another. A bad tank of gas just before Nogaro was the only problem with a new filter after the race addressing all issues. While my heart will always be with my Ferrari's, I simply can not wait for the Tour d'Espagna and next years Tour Auto as well and most importantly the Le Mans Classic! Cheers, Bill
