Isn't it just coilovers and brake lines for the 718?

BTW, just submitted my spec for a 2025 Spyder RS. Looking forward to delivery given the comments above.

So far I've seen adjustments to the std suspension and not looked into swapping parts. I need to do some research but will gladly report back.

    Suspension, aero, brakes, stickers.
And what a remarkable job that suspension.
I had the GM and their race team driver test back to back with non manthey.

Manthey SRS will be interesting. SRS is different enough from the GT4RS that the Spyder does need its own parts...that rear wing on the GT4RS must result in the rear suspension behavior to be significantly different vs the SRS etc.
Our SRS has ruined me to other 'sports cars'

Thanks for the write up. Part of a unicorn for me is looks and lineage and the 718 have neither in my opinion. I have also been somewhat turned off by "newer" Porsches (I daily drive a 2007 911s). However, your review and the other comments have me wondering if I should give the 718 SRS a go. I checked and my local dealership has one coming in so I may go take it for a spin. Thanks!

Worth a try if they let you wind it up to 9k.

I have many cars and have had many so lots to compare it to. Recently, the Porsches Ive owned were 2 992 GT3s and 2 Targa 4Ss, all of which were manual. This thing is a lot more fun. I'll keep it until there is something better but not sure there will be.

The RS is a better track car without a doubt but for street and fun driving hands down the SRS wins.

I concur. Imagine in 25 years someone does a manual conversion on the Spyder like peeps do to some older Ferraris.

Hi. Can you elaborate on your experience between the Spyder RS and the manual GT3's?
I recently sold my 991.2 GT3RS and ordered a Spyder RS which is coming in Feb. To be honest, now that I don't have the 911 I feel like I maybe made a mistake and should have kept it. Now that it's long gone, I'm considering dropping the Spyder RS order and getting a readily-available used manual 992.1 GT3 Touring to fill that 911 void. I only drive on the street so I'm wondering what to do. Maybe it's just me needing a sports car back in my garage and I'm being crazy and impatient....but that's how us petrol heads can be sometimes :)

It is a personal thing but the SRS to me is a much more fun street car. The sound, the styling, performance is all there and the fact that the top comes off makes it even better. The GT3's are stuck between being a track and street car and not great at either.

Thanks for your input! I know what you mean. The GT3RS was amazing, but not the best street car in the end. I have a dedicated Miata race car which I abuse hard and don’t have to stress about so I never tracked the GT3RS. I’ve got some decisions to make.

Same as the GT3, slightly less power than the RS but it feels quicker to me.

Lots of people have asked me about my skincare routine thoughts on driving the SRS ...

The best and briefest way to describe my experience is that it's pretty epic ... basically a better balanced better sounding open top 991.2 GT3RS.

    That's it. :)

I daily drive both the 296 & SRS and honestly it's a toss up every day what to choose - the sound of the SRS is epic & the way the tones change throughout the rev range and throttle pressure (combined with glorious aggressive downshifts) makes you feel like a symphony conductor!
Hitting 9k rpm consecutively 1-3rd or 4th gear is such an experience you really wouldn't care how much "slower" it is compared to say the 296.

The only downside I would give the SRS is I prefer the double wishbone front end of my GT3 Touring (992) - the SRS steering feels a little too weighty & turn in a touch 'slow'. At least that makes the dynamics feel very different to the 296 (to me the 296 drives like the GT3 992 - light snappy front).

The SRS is more comfortable than GT3s due to suspension tuning but not soft by any means, just well damped for the road.

Going from the screen-heavy 296 to the button-less steering wheel & analogue gauges of the SRS is a delight - imo it's the perfect interior layout and will age well (like any 991/718/981 interior).

There isn't anything else out there to compare it to. Open top, NA, great sound, well balanced and IMO beautiful. Everything new is fat and super fast but overly complicated.

Aside from 765LT, this is my favorite car. I absolutely love it.
