    Better to add modern steroe 60Ampere fuse at Alternator fuse box

    Sorry for the delay, been traveling...
    Item 2 was already installed in the car upon purchase - it is located just to the left of the steering column, on the underside of the dash - great location, IMO.
    My guess is one of the previous owners wished to be able to perform some checks or operations without actually engaging the fuel pump.
    I have found it handy in my short time of ownership when attempting to perform some lighting and function tests.

    Having a pump switch can also act as a theft deterrent. When I had a pump switch, I always turned it off when I parked. I let a friend drive my car - he got one block the float bowl ran out of gas. He almost drained the battery trying to restart the car...
