    Hey all.

I've been offered a '72 Pantera, silver/black leather, in very nice driver condition. Bone stock. Two sets of wheels, one with the ORIGINAL TIRES still on them.

All the important moving parts have been refreshed, and the motor has had a major tune up with carb replacement. Motor and gearbox are original to the car, as is most of the rest of it. Original carb comes with the car, too.

Car has had the rust (minor) repaired, and will get a quick squirt of black on the rockers to go with the rest of the once repainted 20 year old paint job.

Interior is original, black leather, needs a little care but is in very nice condition.

    $28K all in.

I know the seller, he's a reputable guy who'll back up the car should it have a failure after purchase (90-120 days).

I don't have any pictures so you'll have to trust that it is in very nice driver condition.

Is $28K market for a car like this? I've wanted a Pantera for some time, and this looks to be a car I can pull the trigger on.

Just looking for some guidance from those here who know more than me.

    Dave M.

That is a good price. You need to put it on a lift & look for rust. Look around the suspension, and everywhere else. If it's reasonably clean, and the transaxle shifts good with no problems, you should jump on it with both feet. A Pantera in that price range is getting to be a rare find.

    I thought so too.

Just have to figure out where to park it...

Sounds like a very good price, but check the car out well on a lift before buying. As said make sure the gershift is smooth, clutch takeup is not sharp, motor is vibration free when driving, and look at temp of car after running for a while, when fans cut in do they pull coolant temp down??
Rust is biggest fear and often covered up, esp around front and rear cross members and check suspension mounting points and sills, do not be afraid to poke hard with a screwdriver.
    Wonderful car. best of luck.

Deal fell through. Seller would not sell ot me. He's a friend, and felt the car had too many needs.

That's too bad... In the end, it's probably for the best, though.

Probably the reason the price is so low.... early unmolested Panteras are worth about $10k more than that in nice condition.
