I love this car. Right up there with McLaren F1, Enzo, F50 IMO. More pics here: http://www.carclassic.com/html/DD90.htm
It really does epitomize the meaning of a "supercar" Imagine how it must have felt to catch air in those cars. Didn't it happen to two cars in 2 days?
Yeah, I think it was 2 cars in 2 days, but I think the other car was a CLR, not a CLK-GTR. I remember reading it was an issue with the front spoiler and how it got too close to the car in front of it and that's what caused it. Not really sure, someone correct me if i'm wrong. Nothing happened to either of the drivers though.
I thought they were BOTH CLRs? actually that really scares me if it is a part of this car's package! I dont want to fly while trying to drive!
CLK-GTRs are really cool. Its so aggressive on the outside, but when your on the inside its like every other Mercedes, except with a manual tranny.
Manual with a paddle shift. You control the clutch, but you can only shift the paddles when you depress the clutch.
wasn't one of the current F1 drivers driving one of the two CLK's that flipped? i can't remember if it who it was. anyway, i'm pretty sure who ever the driver is is still driving in F1.
Jaguar's F1 pilot....Mark Webber, flipped twice in practice in 99, and his team-mate...Peter Dumbreck flipped just five hours into the race, making a total of 3 flips over the week. fwiw- C
Forgot to add a link to better explain what happened.... http://www.mulsannescorner.com/techarticle1.htm
I thought they bought in new rules afterwards because Mercedes were a bit retarded in the aerodynamics dept. One of the Audi R8 designers was bemoaning the fact that he had to change his aero design because of rule changes because of Mercedes design flaws that caused the flip. Surely it's their problem?
