    Very very nice, but (there's always a but, sometimes a big butt);
    - sure looks like repro tools, chock, jack bag and lug wrench
    - wrong spare tire hold-down
    - those silly headlamp covers...I don't dislike them, but clearly not appropriate for a US model
    - anybody's guess on what the price is...none given at Canepa's site

    - side notes;
...is trunk carpet really supposed to be grey? I would expect black
...shocked to see vent windows closed AND LATCHED! I wonder if they're the bolt (vs glued on) style vent window latches
    ...only 11,592 miles
    ...repainted in 2008
... great assortment of pictures on sellers site (http://www.canepacollection.com/detail-1973-ferrari-246_gts-dino-used-7559144.html)

Beautiful car! Like the look of the grey carpets but was that option available from the factory?

A very nice car, but the price is one that will surprise most. The quality of the paint job/restoration is what is driving the pricing

If you have the known the price for over the a month, the price is too high.
Markets are made and value established when sellers and buyers agree. If there is no buyer yet, the price is too high. Let us know if and when it sells. That will determine its value.

I don't think it is ay secret. I knew about the car before Canepa had it in inventory.

I don't believe the car was going to be marketed until Canepa was ready to do so, mainly driven off of pictures I would expect.

Likely no coincidence that it's being offered after the Mecum hermetically sealed Dino was auctioned off for big bucks...Canepa's Dino is also a very low mileage example, but in concours condition rather than a big mystery.

    Shawn,

Not to put too fine a point on it.

What the **** is the price?

    Why ***** foot around it?

Just tell us, please, what is the asking price for this car?

    Thanks,

    Dave

    Oh yes, the car.

    Beautiful.

I hate the gray carpets, but that's an easy fix.

And no, the trunk should not be gray, it should be black, again a minor fix.

Serial number has been restamped on the frame, at least that's the way the picture looks, but I don't think that's an issue.

    Great looking car.

I'm sure it's north of $250K, guessing based on Shawn's coy sidestep on the question.

Unclear if the price Shawn is aware of is the current price or what price was before Canepa put his `special touch' on the car.

Jeez Dave, you could at least sugar coat the question. I'm not trying to be coy, I just haven't been able to determine whether the asking price is market or not for something truely unique. I can't tell from the pictures, but the paint job is supposed to be something near perfect. Asking price was $305k. I don't believe there is anything secret about it.

Just seems like there are certain things that don't need to posted pubically without knowing what it is you are posting about. I can say, the f40 wreck thread is a perfect example. To my knowledge, there are 3 people who posted who know the story, yet all kinds of speculation and opinions have emerged. Almost all speculation is because of an "eyewitness" who wants credit. He got very creative in what he claims he saw. I do not believe he was there until after.

Until someone can look at this car, it is going to be hard to debate the more subtle details without taking our criticism of a couple of obvious things wrong about the car

    Was that $305k with a "3" or did you mean a "2"?

    Sorry Shawn, forgot the :D

I tried the dealer first but he has that call for price nonsense on his site.

I'll try to tread a little softer next time. Oh, and I'll be at Algar this weekend, I'll see what progress they've made on our request.

So would that take the current record for a 246GTS? I'm all for "thinking" my Dino has appreciated noticeably since being acquired 1yr ago even though I have no plans to sell.

No worries, I am not THAT thin skinned :)

This is obviously a car that #'s are different than what one would expect and I imagine will require a on site examination to critique it

    That's rather dangerous thinking.

If you are not selling you have increased 'nothing', and if you ARE selling then you are recognizing accumulated value.

IF you get what you are asking.

This seller obviously doesn't mind 'waiting for the market to come to them", so we'll see exactly how long that takes, in this case.

$305K is the better part of a 458 Italia, although one could argue at a more stable value possibly.

My point was that if it appears your asset is increasing in value, then further investments in the asset is not `throwing money away'...of course, assuming prices don't reverse. Besides, that 458 Italia might be $300k+ when new, but I suspect like any new car, it decreases in value significantly before a reversal in that trend begins.

    Naw, can't be.

We all know Dinos are NEVER going to be worth over $200k.

Nice Dino should be $120-130, they are just too common to ever be worth more.....

No way, no how, dreamers, that one that sold for $250 on the magazine cover (Dino Riot) was just crazy. That Mecum at $270 was just plain stupid, can never happen...

No way, no how. No reason to buy anything overpriced above $130.
