Recently, for the first time conducted a test flight with a Boeing 737 aircraft from Cape Town in South Africa to the airstrip at the Norwegian Troll research station in Antarctica.

Test flight of Boeing's 737 aircraft were launched to try out a more modern, safe and environmentally friendly alternative to the older transport aircraft that have been used for flights up to now.

- Boeing 737 aircraft with more modern equipment that improves safety, but also reduce our footprint in Antarctica because this plane reduces the need to transport fuel to the Troll and that in itself causes less emissions, says Director Øystein Mikel Borg at the Norwegian Polar Institute .
