That's crazy. Impressive that no one got hurt evacuating that. Even though the plane may be wedged in there and not in as precarious position as it looks, that's a steep angle to get people out (45 degree hillsides are pretty tricky to go up). I would think the very young or older passengers would have had a riskier time getting out than the rest.

Hats off to the crane operators and riggers. That had to be a difficult recovery. Given the proximity of the sea and the steep drop off I was surprised to see the aircraft recovered in one piece. Even better job by the cabin crew and first responders with the evacuation. Given the aircrafts position and attitude it's a miracle no one ended up in the water
In my days on the 707, 720, and 727, that airplane would have been quickly repaired and put back into service in probably 30 days. My son reminded me that those days were gone and now there are so many airframes out there that it would be cost effective to salvage it and forget it. That 737 is pretty well beat up but I was around when several 707's were bellied in and had the landing gear ripped off and had burned in some areas and they were repaired and airborne in 30 days or less. The Boeing AOG crews were an unbelievable legend in those days.
When I worked for United at JFK the Boeing AOG team used our hangar for a number of repair jobs for various airlines. They came prepared with every tool and part required. They repaired a 747 tail strike for us and the horizontal stabilizer on another carriers 747 that fell off jacks during a gear repair. They replaced a large portion of the nose foward of the wing of a Northwest 747 freighter that slid off runway and collapsed nose gear. Miracle workers. I agree though. That 737 is toast
