Hello all, My father was I believe the 2nd owner of this Dino. Unfortunately it was sold and years later it popped up on EBAY due to an engine fire..If anyone has any history or photos, I would appreciate it..Thanks!

Thank-you...I'm hoping someone saved instead of parting it out..It was dark Blue with red interior when he purchased it in 1975 or 76...I remember driving it home and it was snowing..I think I have the key fob around somewhere..

It is still with the same owner. He has been slowly collecting parts to rebuild it. I spoke to him about a year ago, he believes he has about 70% of what is needed but is still on the hunt.

It sat for many years in a warehouse up on a shelf, but it is an extremely fragile condition. Fire pretty much consumed the entire car. What was left of the body could be described as the same appearance of an aluminum cola can that went through a trash fire. Very, very fragile and I think it will have to be completely re-bodied to hold everything together.

I am an optimist and know anything is doable, but this would be a very ambitious effort, and one for someone of the likes of OMGJon.

When did your dad own it and where was it at at that time?

He purchased it in Mass. We lived in Trumbull, Ct and my mother is still in the same house. My father had the car painted Red and then it was repainted in the original Blue sometime in the late 80's or early 90's.. As I mentioned earlier, it was Dk Blue, Red leather, & it had tan carpets..My father had the carpets changed to Red. It wasn't running when we sold it.....I'm sure it's not pretty but I would like to see a photo if possible...I've attached a photo of him in the car after it was painted Red, circa 1976 ish. I may have other photos but it will take awhile..

Here are pictures from the eBay offer in early November 2003, needless to say, not my copyright.

No early history in the Dino Register. Was with Algar, probably for sale, in July 1997. Was purchased then by a Robert C. Gren of NYC before it was registered as being burnt. Was offered by Bikes Parts Cars of Wolcott on ebay on 9/22/03 and obviously purchased by Paul Pellerin, who, obviously as well, was the one who offered it on ebay again on 11/03/03 where it was purchased the same year by a Guillermo Amtmann of Houston.

Thank-you for your efforts and the photos..It is disheartening to say the least to see the car in that condition, however, at least it wasn't crushed and there is a glimmer of hope for a re-build..This brings an end to my wondering of it's whereabouts and condition..A Happy & health Holidays to everyone & your families..

Imagine the task of trying to collect everything needed to fully rebuild It yourself. I am an optimist, but I would love to see this Dino come back

The other issue is cost. My first restoration was '56 Thunderbird from bones. Finding and replacing parts is twice as expensive as restoring the parts you have. The finished product could be over the value - if you have the skills. But, no one wants to see it crushed...

Not a easy task if you want to source original stuff which are scarce and very expensive. Agree would love to see it on the road one day but i fear this one may not make it unless you are willing to throw big money at it and accept you will be in neg equity.

If it was a car i had owned many years ago, I'd do it and sod the cost :)

Giotto, there are photos in the thread...TX246, yes I agree if it's rebuilt, financially it's not smart..but, I would say that more car collectors/enthusiasts do it for the passion than the money.

What M. Urban stated was correct. I did buy and sell the Dino on eBay. However, I stripped the car of most of its useable parts including engine and transmission. Those parts were used in the restoration of Dino GT 7520. 7520 was sold and went to Holland, restored and sold at auction. 7520 is an original chairs and flares car. It is in New Mexico now.

I bought 07520 years ago as a roll over with no engine/gearbox and stripped everything off of it I could. Ended up selling the frame and body to Barry Watkins in CA. I followed up years later and I think it was in the north east U.S. for a while and sent off to Holland as mentioned. I sent them the engine compartment data plate, stamped trunk hinges and maybe a few more parts from that car. Must have been a labor of love to restore that car.

I traded a 308GTBi for it from Forristall's in Texas. I owned it for many years in Connecticut and collected most of the parts. I sold it to a person in Amsterdam. He lost the car and many other cars for not paying taxes. A person in France bought the car. He contacted me. I had spoken to you before and knew you had those parts. I gave him your phone number. The restoration is on the Holland website: www.lussoclassics.com. The sale by RM: 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GT 'Chairs & Flares' by Scaglietti | Arizona 2019 | RM Sotheby's (rmsothebys.com). The car is on YouTube: 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GT "Chairs and Flares" - YouTube. I loved the car but didn't have the funds to complete the restoration.

Thank-You for the update. It feels good knowing the drivetrain is being used and not just sitting in a warehouse collecting dust. It breaks my heart that my fathers car was basically destroyed but it happens. I still have the key ring somewhere which I will pass down to one of my sons in memory of their grandfather.
