will probably go very high and if the ebay buyer does not inspect it he/she will be buying what looks like, just from the pics alone, an incredible amount of rust. I hope any buyer of this knows what dino rust is like and will spend the big bucks on top of the purchase to get it all correct (like many dino purchase stories I have heard lately, could be upside down on this one in a hurry)

So you spend $30K to get the rust fixed and the paint right. Assuming no other major disasters, probably another $20K on the odds and ends, means you have to spend $50K to get it in good shape.

    It's a Euro car, I've seen a couple very nice Euro's at $140K, makes this a $90K fixer upper.

OOPS, no books, no tools, add $8K to your fix it up price, makes it mid $80's.

No one is gonna part for a car in what is perceived as a strong up market for these cars at that number, do you think?

    I'll email and ask.

Current bid as of 6:30pm Mtn 10/17 is 75K and reserve still isnt met.

I certainly don't think this car should be parted out, but its climbing from a bid standpoint and the owner definately knows where he wants it to be priced cause the reserve is still there.

Suspect his reserve is over $90K based on his response to my email.

Not a realistic reserve, but if he gets it, more power to him. NYC is right, anyone buying this car at or over $90K is gonna be inside out in a hurry.

The market for these cars is strong, but not for a rust bucket. I think, based on the photos, that there could more in the frame too. And that ain't cheap to repair.

Guess we'll watch and learn together.

What's a 98 point Euro 246 worth these days (i.e. if this car was restored to that state)?

my car about to that stage, or certainly will be by the Spring. I've been told it's a $130K car at that level. Mine is a US GT.

Euro cars sell for a slight discount, GTS for a 15-20% premium, so I would guess a Euro car, no charis or flairs, no a/c with crank windows in the 98 point range would be $150K+ car.

    Look at the bid history.
Two bidders have already bid high and retracted their bids, a typical method for probing the reserve price.

I with drew my bid after I realized I hit a wrong key when entering my bid, I withdrew the bid and before I could re-enter a new bid, my max bid had already been surpassed. I have a pretty good idea what the car is worth and the reserve is higher than that. that ends my bidding. I am sure you can test the reserve by bidding and retracting, but asking is easier.

as for value, I think a 98 point car, either us or euro will bring more th $150k.

Shawn, do you agree that US Spec cars sell for more than their Euro counterparts? Abd if so, can you figure out why?

i think a euro version has more value. its more pure in the sense that it has more horse power and that the lines of the car are not disturbed by the rectangular side marker lights. the single front button side marker lites are clean. there are no pollution control items as well. i would pay more for a euro spec dino.

I don't think there is a premium of one over the other. the euro car is quicker than the us spec.

I've had two different dealers tell me that here in the US, the US spec car carries a premium in price.

A/C, power windows, Daytona Interiors might make up for the additional price.

And, since just about every US car has had the smog stuff ripped away years ago, and the cars have been re-tuned to accomodate that, I doubt there's much of a weight or HP difference at this point.

    dave,

    keep in mind that :

    a/c doesn't equal us spec
power windows doesn't equal us spec
daytona interior doesn't equal us spec

clearly, a daytona interior, power window, a/c car will bring more than a car with out.

dino's weren't "us spec" until 72. any car before that is irrelevant.

any car after 72 is priced based on options, not market of the cars original sale.

i have all usa spec cars. i admit euro cars are faster, forget the smog stuff, the distributers were different as well.

i can't say this is the "current market" price or not, but grant you will spend this much or more, and dave is right.

i have yet to see anyone offer a COMPLETE package at this price. admitandly, i am a buyer at this price.if the set is truely "COMPLETE", than we have a different issue. almost complete sets are available, but far from the advised price.

No, but they sure are easier to find on a US car. I don't think I've seen a Euro car with A/C or power windows, except one car that the owner retro-fitted power windows to. I have seen Daytona seats added on a couple cars.

Which is why I switched to a Euro distributor some time ago. Can't tell the difference externally from anywhere except if you pull off the cap, and even then, most buyers aren't gonna know the difference, and no concours guy is gonna spot it, or care. Keep the old one in a box just in case, and there you go.

Then yank off the smog stuff to save the weight, and you get a pretty quick little car. Toss in some higher compression pistons...

    Dave
