Dear Dino GT4 Owners Could anyone tell me what radio/speakers were originally installed in the 1976 Euro GT4s? A photo of an original radio/speaker would also be highly appreciated. Thank you for your information! Regards Urs
Urs To the best of my knowledge 308 GT4's never came from the factory with a radio fitted. They were factory pre-wired with speakers however. Radio's were always dealer fit/aftermarket. This continued with the release of the 308 GTB/GTS range and the 328 series.... Cheers, Pete
Pete Thanks for your reply. Anyone any idea what sort of Radios were installed by the dealers? My father is restoring his Dino and we were wondering what should be looked for. Not that he is going to use it much It is more a question of originality. Cheers Urs
I have a Becker radio in my '74, however, I have no idea if it was installed by the selling dealer back in '74 or not.... JIM
Blaupunkt became the most commonly installed units in the USA, and I believe the UK, as well by 1975. My GT4 has a Blaupunkt, although it's beginning to die.
My 75 has a Pioneer unit fitted, Pioneer were a supplier for the F1 team at the time!! Regards, Phil.
Great info guys thanks. Any information or pics on what type of Radios (like Becker "Mexico") for Blaupunkt and Pioneer we are talking about?
The radio in my U.S.-spec 308 GT4 is a Blaupunkt CR-4096 and is a AM/FM stereo cassette deck, which from what I can determine was installed from new... I've been thinking of replacing it with one of these (so I can plug in my iPod easier, rather than using a cassette-body adapter that I currently use): https://www.xksunlimited.com/xks/q_0110_eType_02.asp
Not a 76 (77 I think), but a Euro dealer installed Blaupunkt set-up. A bit messy. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's the Blaupunkt Berlin, which was the top of the line (and outrageously expensive, it must have been the most expensive stereo at the time), Blaupunkt at the time.
I was going to go the classic route but changed my mind. I put in a Clarion that has a brushed aluminum finish to the knobs. It looks like it belongs in the car even though it is clearly modern... Image Unavailable, Please Login
