Very cool my '79 has been in bad condition for a while now and I never seem to have time to get the restoration started! Plus arent that many mechanics that are familiar with RRs where I live.
9nb, as a suggestion only, refer to RROC - rolls Royce owner's club - before the restoration my water pump went 1,000 miles from home. The closest RR dealership did not want to handle it as they were unfamiliar with the classic models (LOL). I was referred to a small shop in a remote area by an RROC member. In the end, I stayed 2 extra days, the shop was able to have the GM water pump rebuilt and reinstalled.
Looking great! The color combination is very elegant and will just be stunning when the clear is applied and the chrome is in place. A new silver shadow will have you grinning from ear to ear!!!
URAS thank you for the suggestion, I will try to get into contact with the RROC, LOL my dealership said the same thing, they don't work on RRs pre 2003.
The last three clearcoats this morning. On Monday lightly polish. Tuesday reassembly starts. Pictures from the front. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Paid a visit to the shop. Had been scheduling to move to assembly, but it has been cooler than expected, so waiting for the clear coat to dry more and than final polishing to bring out the shine. 5 coats of clearcoat applied. two more pictures of rear and hood. note the two pinstripes on top and bottom of where the side chrome molding will be going. the bottom more is more difficult to see as a suttle accent stripe to bring out the chrome - like a shadow. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
shop will keep the wheel covers to finish them off next week. i forgot to order the tires so did that today - 235/70/V/15 with narrow whitewalls.
Thanks guys. Have my oldest child getting married in July so trying to finish a number of car projects for the wedding. It is double pleasure of seeing these cars finally being completed and available for family to use.
Where is this car getting done? Are they a rolls specialist? If so I would like to contact them. I have a shadow coming into the shop with in the the next couple of weeks with brake issues. I'm far from an expert on these cars and need somebody I can contact locally if I run into troubles.
I am using a shop in Kingston Ontario. Their speciality is British cars, sunbeams, triumph, mgb, jags, rolls royce, Bentley, etc. I will pm you their contact particulars tomorrow. They are doing this silver shadow, the e-type, and soon to be 69 420G.
Yes. In Indian weddings there are a number of functions. So each function the bride and groom will drive a different car: this one for the reception, the e-type for the wedding, the testarossa for another function, and the 420g for another one. Each of the 6 kids I am going to gift a car at their wedding though they do not know it yet. This oldest one gets this RR. Better they enjoy at their early age rather than wait till my age. Next year the second one gets married and gifting her the e-type. I try to give them what the have shown interest in in the past. The third girl likes the Datsun 280zx. The boys get the tr, 308, and mustang. The 420g I am keeping as my daily driver.
But now the "dad always liked you best!" game will be no fun around your house with this cheat sheet laying around lol. Seriously though URAS you're winning the "Coolest Dad" contest.
No way - their mom and I r the fortunate ones.each has done well on their own initiative. They are good kids and they will share as they require. In terms of age I have a lawyer, Doctor, joint law school and phd, engineer, computer programmer, and a licensed trade/professional. They take care of us now-a-days. Plus they don't know about ferrari chat (currently)! I spanked them, put each through minimum masters...they can suck it up and suffer and share. Lol. Well time for a beer....have to put upsurge some friends coming over and I have to accommodate their American muscle wheels.
Hi, Awwww, I am jealous! Not because of the cars, but your family. We have three kids, and they are more or less grown up. Now don't get me wrong, I think they are all great, but I regret a bit we did not make a few more! As far as cars go, our oldest daughter only seems to like the XJ8 which I am trying to get rid off, as we have no use for it (well, one or two ski trips per year), as it's the only automatic we have ever had. Over here they have to go to driving school and pass a test plus do night driving and a slippery test track, with a manual gearbox and stick shift, but she just feels it's too much in the city. I've of course tried to educate all of them of the joys of a sports car with a manual gearbox and a throaty V12, but it may be a generation thing too. Well, we'll see later how things go! Cheers, Pekka T. (on my way to Chicago right now) Fin.
