I would agree. I'd love to see how he got the nice crisp line of the 90 degree edge with the way it gently curves. That would be the hardest part I'd think. That's real craftsmanship and just about a lost art!!!
Sorry I'm late to this party. Another great thread! Makes me feel warm and fuzzy seeing Newman pull another 308 from the brink. Congratulations on making this decision to have the car done correctly. Watching...... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think paul is getting thirsty and I better travel and drop of a hot chocolate for him some time next week.
Just looked after some rust mainly on the right side of the rear lid on the inside lip. It was repaired before by being brazed (see brass area). I was surprised at the rust under the yellow paint that was visible by lightly scraping the yellow. It just came off with rust attached to it. I've got all my old OEM Vinyl pieces sitting in my basement since I re-did mine in leather. Want them? EDIT: To be clear, the leather guy unstiched them and used them to make templates for the leather pieces. You'd have to stitch them back together.
Thank you but no, we're going all new. Diamond Trim (the shop I use) essentially makes the pieces from clear plastic stitching them together if the existing covering is either missing or shrunk so they are an exact fit then uses them as templates for the vinyl or leather.
I'd take those for 37313 in a heartbeat! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/359739-chassis-37313-resurrection-308-gtbi.html

In what ways is this better than what was done at the factory or is it the same? Will this be better than brand new or just brand new?
I guarantee it will be better than original. The factory does not block cars out like this. Not sure if the plan is to leave some peel but most certainly they can make the finish like glass.
I can't wait to see that car done. It will be so nice. Paul, did you remember to get two rear lower panel made? One for me.
Its better than new if we just avoided lacquer paint (which we're doing)! It'll be dead straight and no peel.
Final primer, minor imperfections to correct then it gets a coat of yellow followed by further inspections before final paint.
