Well I finally fitted my Euro Bumpers (form Butch Hooper) and took the car for a quick 30 minute fun drive. Couple of issues remain that I forgot all about while I have been playing around with the bumpers:

When I first get the car out of my drive and down my street for about half a mile I always hear a rattle from the rear on the slightest bump. Afer that it goes away never to return, rock soild at speed over bumps. I have looked everywhere and all bushings seem good and suspension nuts are tight etc.
I even tightened down the rear trunk lid in case it was that, wow they are really heavy must be made out of lead or something, anyway can't seem to trace the rattle.

Also car hesitates very slightly in third under load but is fine at higher revs or changing down. Is it time to change the plugs again, is once a year a good idea, I only do maybe 1000 miles a year. Its like the car has lost a tiny bit of zing.

Lastly its a very hot night here in Atlanta and when I parked in the garage about half of a pint of coolant came out of the overflow I think. Temp gauage is fine and its too dark to take a good look.

Any ideas would be gratefully recieved. Thanks in advance.

The rattle may be something loose in the exhaust (a baffle maybe?) which goes away once the system heats up a bit and the metal expands. Maybe try banging/tapping on the muffler when it's dead cold.

The coolant will be expelled if it is over-filled. Generally it needs to be about 2-3" below the filler opening - any higher than that and it will come out until the level is reduced. See if it keeps doing it - if previously overfilled it will soon stop, so don't go rushing in to top-up.

Yes the exhaust sounds a good place to look as it could well be heat related. I have a Tubi on there and will check it out tomorrow when its nice and cool.

I've gone 5k miles on the same sparkplugs and I haven't had any problems.

When was the lat time the carbs were synched? Hesitation is a classic sign of poor carb synch.

Rattle could also be a shock internal fault. They only last 7-10 years reliably, then they'll benefit from an internal service by a koni agent.

Hesitation could also be just partially blocked idle jet/s or progression hole/float levels etc, rather than just synchronising.

Coolant... pressure check the rad cap first. Often gets dirty and won't build pressure and release at 14lbs or so. Most likely cleanable, but to replace won't break the bank.

It is time for a carb overhaul for sure, I will finally put the 135 jets that have been sitting on the table for a year to good use. Will also sync, clean etc and let you know.

The car has brand new adjustable shocks from Italian design, not sure of the brand. Do you think they could cause this?

I will also get a new cap today and report back.

    Thanks for all help.

    Absolutely re-check the shocks installation.

Likely a problem with spacers/clearance somewhere......
