Hi I am tring to disassemble my gearbox for 2nd & 3rd syncro replacement. I have looked at old threads for instruction, but they only show up to removeing cruch nuts & end bearings(where i am at now) How do the gaer assemblys come out? I need help before i break something. I have the work workshop manual, but it figures you know what you are doing. Any help would be great. Thanks, Rick
I can't answer your question but do keep us informed as to how it goes. I'm afraid I'll have to do the same inside a couple of years. I'd love to see pics of that gearbox opened up.
To be blunt, if you have the manual and can't work it out...you're probably out of your depth and should get the box repaired with skilled help on hand, and not just a website..... Don't be offended, I think you'll thank me in the long run.
Hi I guess i have the wrong manual ,mine skips the disassembly and goes directly to cleaning and inspection. The one i have is for the GT4,is there later manuals available? Thanks Rick

Same as the later GTBs, IIRC...Anyone??? My mechanic told me, "I know you like to change your own oil, but you don't have to do a clutch job in your driveway!!! Tow that thing down here!" There is some merit to that.......
Come on Phil, Thats what your here for (just kidding), as a matter of fact your about the only one I would let touch my car. I have had my car for ten years years today, and have done every repair on it except for the first, after that I decided to do it myself. I am not a trained mechanic but just about everything I have done has come out very well. I have learned allot but want to learn more!!! I enjoy working on the car as much as driving it and feel a very great sense of accomplishment every time I do something. And let me tell you I am in way over my head on this!! You just need lots of nuts!!! Good Luck Muira and post some pics!
If you are still having problems, you may take this advice: Box up your gearbox and let me take it to Pete's Gearshop in Hayward,CA. I will be in your area this week (Wednesday night through Friday and can take it back to the bay area). Pete rebuilt by 308 gearbox in three days and did an awesome job. He replaced all the sync's, 3rd and the 4th-5th gear for $1250 total! When you put it back together, make sue you put in a new crank seal. Peter
