Fox is often known to distort the truth. Fox diehard fans think everyone else is lying but their favourite news channel. Funny that this ownage happened to a Fox channel. That's the point. Any questions? Call the NTSB at 1.800.INTERNS
Come on, like NBC falsifying the 911 call from Zimmerman? Everyone's **** stinks. Lets not turn this into P&R with statements like this. Kai
Oh - so close, and yet wrong. Bay Area, California | Cox Media Group A FOX affiliate. So what is an affiliate? Well, the station takes national programming and some regional and the occasional local data from the FOX network. It is OWNED by Cox media. Hey - just like the pilots! They got it close, then - crashed.
Oakland - San Francisco - San Jose KTVU 2 (44) 1963 Fox primary affiliation correct the are 'technically' owned by Cox, but actually there is zero distinction between Fox and This KTVU station. I say they are owned by Fox in that regard. close....way too close as anyone in the bayarea knows if you want to watch Fox, turn to 2
Fox actually does not distort with the impunity of MOST other networks. Been studied many times. i.e. the NBC thing mentioned above is an example. You're in Cyprus...? you listen/watch US media?
asiana airlines is threatening to sue the tv station for damaging the reputation of these pilots?!?!?! thats takes huge cajones to even make that statement.
A quote from the Kite Factory. " There was a time when machines were falling out from under humans. Now humans are riding perfectly good machines into the ground."
I spend a lot of time in the Bay Area. Let's not get mired down in politics. Saw an attractive stewardess on Thai. Ezy Lei. Look out for her and her partner Dee Zees.
No. This is a local production on a Fox affiliate. That means they carry shows like The Simpsons and American Idol. KTVU is not Fox News.
Perception matters more than fact, sometimes, and in the court of public opinion, Fox got owned. Let it go.
Well, ok. I guess 'technically' the guys sitting in front of the plane were pilots. It was not my perception that they crashed the plane. Call me nutty, but I kinda like facts better than perception. Not all people are like me of course. Ya know, I hadn't thought of it, but now that it's been mentioned a few times that this was a FOX affiliate, maybe - just possibly there is another factor involved in the misdirection from the administration's NTSB spokesperson. The 'summer intern' story never did seem to make sense.
Feeling safer about our trip to Catalina now. I was worried you would be rusty on stick and rudder and I would have to bring my considerable experience to the show !! LOL. Good input, thx. Why is the left hand right hand speed/pitch function different on the big stuff ? is it the weight/size, type of flaps, drag, Jet engines ? I would assume pitching the nose up increases drag and slows you down and visa versa.
I just received a series of wreckage photos that show some proof of design features of the 777. first was the structural integrity of the fuselage shell, the frame spacing and stringer spacing is tight and the skin in the upper lobe shows no sign of oil-canning. The shot of what I think is the #1 engine with the strut still attached including the wing mount terminal fittings intact, the shots of the wing undersurface shows the strut mount forgings that also appear to be intact. That indicates that the shear pins in the strut installation worked perfectly so that when the strut was torn from the wing there was no damage to the spar box and no fuel spilled out. One critical factor in preventing a huge fire that certainly would have caused many fatalities. Also the wing took a helluva beating and maintained its structural integrity throughout the entire thrashing around of the crash. I'm proud to have worked on that bird.
Just for reference, frame pitch on a 777 is nominally 21 inches, 22 inches on a 767, 20 inches on a 747, 20.87 inches on all Airbus widebodies. Stringer pitches are nominally the same for all the aircraft. Skin gage is nominally the same for all the aircraft. In other words, there is very little structural difference in the basic fuselage shell between or within the Boeing and Airbus fleets. There just can't be. It is not rocket science.
Very impressive indeed that 130 passengers could walk out with no injuries. The point of concern is how come 1R & 2R chutes inflated inside the fuselage pinning two flight attendants to the floor.
The slide rafts are actually contained on a bustle attached to the door. Triggering mechanism could have been damaged in the crash and the deployed as soon as the door was starting to be opened, which would cause them to inflate inward.
I'm not trying to come across as an expert, we already have those. I am an enthusiastic observer and participated in all phases in this business of aviation to the limits of my abilities.
