I replaced all of the rear frame section after the engine compartment to fit the new euro QV tail panel and lower the trunk floor like the euro cars as well. The US cars have the raise floor to fit the coinverters and all of the insulation not to mention bumper shocks. Really spectacular job ! Very exciting to watch it come together. I've done some major restorations on old Mustangs and Corvettes but not close to this degree. I can truely appreciate the amount of time and effort involved. When you're done, it will be worth it. You'll probably have the only "NEW" 308. Steve
Paul, I have been watching this transformation. Its absolutely gorgeous !! Glad to see it come together since the last time we talked about it. Im sorry to hear of your personal things, but glad its working out in a positive manner. That is some great dedication, if your intrested in a TR like you mentioned, I might know of someone...lol !!
Thanks guys for the compliments, Ive done old muscle cars in the past and this car is a much bigger challenge, seems to have many more times the parts than any domestic car Ive worked on. Its a challenge for sure but Im taking it slow and it will get done hopefully by the summer or fall. Originally I planned to have it done 2 summers ago, I laugh now when I think about how unrealistic that goal was.
It's great to have this thread active again. This 308 is going to bee so nice when it is finished, nice work!
This is a great thread! Congratulations on your progress (sorry to hear about your personal situation though ).
Thanks for the kind words, I hope to be installing the suspension in a couple of weeks once I get some final pieces I forgot to send out to be plated. I gapped and forgot the mounting forks for the control arms as well as the ball joints so all these pieces have to sit and wait - duh! Im glad I went with the yellow, it was down to the wire when I finally decided what colour to go, it was a toss up between red and yellow at the time. Didnt consider the original grigio ferro but wished I could have kept the red interior but yellow on red aint so cool so now its yellow on black. Im tackling the wiring harness now, have to recover most of it with new sheathing, clean up the wiring and make any repairs as I go, then make the brake lines. Havent decided on installing the air conditioning yet or not, dont want the extra weight but have to consider future buyers as I probably wont keep it forever. Decampos, why dont you post a pic of your car on the thread? I would love to see it.
(this is the only pic I have on this computer) Yellow really highlights those gorgeous lines (of course I'd say that). I'd say go with the a/c. I took mine out over the summer as it was faulty and I couldn't travel anywhere without getting a wet back! Just a thought - are you going to cover the dash with the original spec vinyl? That's the only thing I'd change on mine - I find the reflection from the dashboard a real hazard at night. I'm currently exploring less reflective materials. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Your car looks really sharp! Im staying with the factory vinyl on the dash and I hated the glare as well but Ill put up with it. Is your car a US spec version? Im going by the marker lights and you are in the UK. what gives?
