Good job Paul... Hey did you ever figure out a good way to remove the grey putty sealer from the area on the chassis where the spare tire tub goes up front?
I havent given it any thought Dave, I figure the sandblaster will make it go away forever. I just got the windshield trim off today so Im ready to remove the windshield. So far no damage to trim or glass.
Successfully removed the windshield today to find rust. It made removing the dash much easier because there is a retaining trim at the bottom of the windshield that the dash fits under. Once it was off the dash almost fell out. You'll notice leather flaps in the defroster vents that dont flap anymore. They are supposed to allow hot air into the cabin only when the fan is on. Paul, I am IMPRESSED. This is not a "partial" restoration, but a very thorough one. I have the impression this will finish up BETTER than new. Nice!

Today I removed the a/c lines inside the right rocker, the coolant pipes, a/c box and complete wire harness which is one piece from front bumper to rear bumper. The black shiney sheathing that protects the wiring is as dry as a popcorn fart so its brittle and snaps when you bend it. Ill have to remove the hard-shell connectors to slide on new sheathing. I also discovered my clutch cable is starting to fray at the pulley near the gearbox so it will have to be replaced also. The parts that remain on the car I could count on one hand and once they are off, I can start the metal work and sandblasting. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ill be sandblasting the entire chassis, parts of the windshield frame and some other innerstructure that has some minor rust that Ill be repainting. I wont be blasting any of the exterior panels. Ill also be blasting all of the steel suspension components prior to rebushing and painting them.
OK, You scared me for a minute there.I had a flashback of a friend who once sandblasted his entire GTO (Pontiac). Warped everything, Anyway Good luck with your project and thanks for sharing. BTW; Are you keeping track of time (hrs.) spent?

Thanks Guys, I should keep track of the hours I guess. I started in november sometime but dont spend more than say 6 - 8 hours/week on it . Gotta keep the wife and kids happy too. I plan to finish the garage this coming summer, have to do something with the floor and hang pictures, wall cabinets and so on.

:-D I'm quite amazed at how simple the loom is. Whenever I've worked under the dash of the GT4, I've been scared to dig deep into that rat's nest. Good to see it isn't really that scary at all... Will you be replacing any of the individual wires (as need be if you come across it), or just the connectors?
